H.R. No. 979

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Commander Patrick L. Beatty has served both his state and his nation with pride and distinction for more than a decade, and his exemplary record of military service is indeed deserving of special legislative recognition; and

WHEREAS, After enlisting in the United States Army in 1982, this dedicated soldier worked for several years in the special operations and counterintelligence fields; as part of his intensive training, he studied Polish at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and became proficient in counterterrorist operations; and

WHEREAS, He later served overseas as chief of the pay and examination division of a base in Augsburg, Germany, and he currently serves as commander of B Detachment 105th Finance Battalion at Fort Bliss; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of his meritorious service, Commander Beatty has been awarded five Army Commendation Medals and four Army Achievement Medals; he also was the 1992 recipient of the Omar N. Bradley Award honoring the best junior officer stationed at Fort Bliss; and

WHEREAS, Despite the demands of his military service, Commander Beatty has earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Methodist College, and throughout his many endeavors, he has enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Jane Beatty, and their lovely daughter, Rachel; and

WHEREAS, Commander Patrick L. Beatty exemplifies the traits of courage, honor, integrity, and discipline that are the highest ideals of our nation's armed forces, and in doing this, he has earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the gratitude of his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas Legislature hereby honor Commander Patrick L. Beatty for his outstanding military service and extend to him warmest best wishes for many more years of continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Commander Beatty as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
