Where was God on September 11, 2001?
Many people are asking where was God on September 11, 2001? One has to wonder how such a disaster with such malice human suffering could happen if there is a God. Why would God allow his children to suffer like this? If there is a God where was he on September 11, 2001?
These are questions that need to be answered.
The Bible says that God is Love and Love is God. What is God if God is Love? God is all that is good, understanding, patient, honest, giving, forgiving, kind, gentle, healing, helpful, sacrifice, teacher, warmth, light, brightness, hope, comfort, sincere, unconditional and never ending.
The separation of ones self from God is called “sin”. Sin is when we place our own interest, desires and selves first before God’s. The middle letter in sin is “I”, meaning I come first, I want my way, I care only about me, I do not care, I do not believe.
The acts of terrorism on September 11, 2001 were not acts of God, God’s will, or on behalf of God as some may want to proclaim. These were cowardly sins. Sins are not just wrong actions. Wrong actions are just symptoms, like the high temperature and headache that tells us we have the flue. Sins are the symptoms of the power of death and destruction over us from the power of Satan, whom we are following and obeying when we sin. Sin grips us and holds us and won’t let us go.
The good news is God and Love will always prevail over Satan. God works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will. This does not mean that God directly wills every thing that happens. The events on September 11, 2001 were against God’s will as all sin is against God’s will. No matter how dreadful things happen that he hates, God is not thrown off course. He takes these things and turns them to positive use within his plan. How can this be true? Remember God’s only son Jesus Christ was whipped and beaten then hung on the cross and died a slow suffocating miserable death, a dreadful sin, but look what he did with that. Christ’s death and resurrection has saved us all from eternal hell. God is able to do this with everything. He can work out everything so that it is in conformity with his plan, and does not frustrate it or even work against it. This how so many people pulled together and did so many loving acts after the attacks. This is God’s will.
God is present during good times and in the most difficult times. Please keep steadfast in your faith and never let sIn overcome your life.
