Job Title:Community Giving Manager

2. PURPOSE OF JOB

We have ambitious plans to diversify and grow sustainable income and achieve a step change in our income and impact.This isan exciting opportunityto set up community giving as a whole new area of fundraising for CTS. This demanding new post will work withthe Head of Fundraising and Communications to further develop CTS’s core income streams. The focus of this role will be particularly on building relationships with key stakeholders inRoman Catholic parishes; making appeals at masses; and developing a network offundraising volunteers who will organise fundraising events for CTS. There is great potential for innovation and growth in this role, which will attract an enthusiastic fundraising professional who is a natural self starter, with a strong interest in the CTS’s work to communicate the truths of the Catholic faith. You will work closely with the new Individual Giving Manager and the Sales and Marketing team who lead on promoting our products to our customers and key audiences including parishes. You will be innovative and results driven, spotting opportunities to expand our donor baseand will also feed into the wider fundraising strategy.

3. KEY TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Head of Fundraising and Communications to develop and implement the community giving strategy to identify opportunities for growth and develop an achievable annual work plan of activity and a variety of initiatives
  • Measure and test activities to inform future activity
  • Build strong relationships with Catholic priests and key stakeholders in parishes and arranging fundraising appeals at masses with second collections for one off gifts but particularly to bring in regular donors to CTS
  • Make appeals at parishes across the UK (this will involve a significant amount of travel and work on Sundays and possibly Saturday evenings at least for the first 6-12 months – on the weeks where you are working on Sundays you would only work a four day week in the office)
  • Build and nurture a network of fundraising volunteers with ‘fundraising hubs’ of volunteers in Catholic parishes who would pray, fundraise and raise awareness of CTS’ work; maintaining regular contact via newsletters/ social media; delivering regional events and training sessions for volunteers on public speaking and organising events and challenges
  • Write fundraising presentations, toolkits and resources for fundraising volunteers and other fundraising materials and work closely with colleagues to produce fundraising messaging
  • Develop links beyond parishes with Catholic schools, students and other networks, movements and groups, conferences, festivals and events in order to grow the number of fundraising volunteers and the value of their fundraising
  • Develop manage and monitor budgets on income (against target) and expenditure
  • Write updates on our work including a regular newsletter for volunteers, prepare mailings and update and manage the database
  • Work with colleagues to ensure that the development of the database is in line with the requirements of the community giving programme

4. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong track record of raising significant funds and growing income from communities - individuals and groups, particularly with a focus on new donor acquisition
  • Demonstrable experience of recruiting and managing volunteers
  • A ‘people person’ who is in their element meeting new people, enthusing them about the work of CTS and managing relationships with volunteers
  • An excellent and confident communicator, both verbally and written communications
  • Excellent team working and interpersonal skills and a proactive approach
  • First class organisation skills with the ability to manage a busy workload with multiple priorities and tight deadlines; event management experience
  • Creativity and strong entrepreneurial flair, with tenacity to succeed
  • Ability to stay ahead of sector trends in community giving and be able to apply them in your work, including in the digital arena
  • Good knowledge of tax efficient giving methods
  • Enthusiasm and demonstrable interest in the work of the CTS, good knowledge and understanding of the Roman Catholic faith more broadly and an interest in joining an organisation which aims to make a real difference in the world
  • Proven research skills preferably gained in a fundraising or marketing environment
  • Excellent IT, administration and database management skills
  • Ability to bring your own networks to the role
  • Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent ability or skills

CTS receives financial and spiritual support from the Catholic community to carry out its work.
