Where to put your Mister-Pink Poster?

OK, so this either provokes a rude reply or you may think it’s an obvious answer, but after playing at so many venues that fail to put this handy marketing tool to good use, we at Mister-Pink thought it might be useful to have a few ideas to share with you.

The concept is that the more people that are aware of the event, the more will attend and the more money you will make on entry and/or takings – simple hey!

Hang the posters up in the loo above the urinals in the gents as some guys are multi-talented and can read and pee all at once! On the backs of the ladies loo doors. In the venue, at least 2 near the stage and then others scatter around. On your windows facing outwards. On you’re A-board outside. Taped to the lamppost outside of your venue so passing traffic can see (do 2, one for each way).

Get local shops (newsagent, fast food, hairdressers, etc.) to put up the poster to help support local businesses.

Also think of your ‘target market’. If your venue is popular with students we would suggest that you send the local schools, college and University a few posters to stick up on a notice board. Or perhaps most of your crowd come in before hitting the night spots and clubs, so try hanging some up inside or outside of these premises. Look for popular spots these people hang out in and stick up a poster on a wall or lamppost nearby. Our favourite spots include disused buildings, lampposts, tube stations, in your car window, yours and friends house windows, backs of buses (if you're cheeky enough!), street furniture, pub toilets and even (yes we did this to a Radio DJ once!) someone's back! Be audacious!

When hanging them outside, try and get a flat surface to place them on (like a wall). If your attaching them to a lamppost use a piece of thick card to keep them flat as they are much more striking. If they are out in the open then a cheap way to protect them is to put them in a transparent file page (get these from a stationery outlet). Sellotape around the lamppost several times. Make sure that they will come down after the event.

Also make sure the local press know of the event at least 2 weeks in advance. Radio stations love to advertise local music events. There are several music events guides for your area, but make sure they know a good Month in advance.

In most areas there are local by-laws against fly posting and these can vary from borough to borough. Breaking these by-laws is a criminal offence, which means that IF the police catch you, you can be arrested and charged and possibly end up in front of magistrate getting a fine. Use your common sense. These are only designed for a short period of time so the chances are that they will not be an issue for long.

We have enclosed several posters. Should you need any more please visit our website at www.Mister-Pink.co.uk , click on the poster tab, download the correct size for your printer, overtype your venue and date and print as many as required.

Good luck, and see you soon.

Mister-Pink.
