General Duties

The responsibilities of the post are to be performed in accordance with the provisions of the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document and within the range of teachers’ duties set out in that document.

Hours and Pay

As set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

As a rule Wheatfields Junior School teachers are expected to be in school at 8.15am until 4.15pm. In addition, teachers are expected to attend a Year group planning meeting and a staff meeting each week. The latter ends at 4.45pm. Periodically, teachers will be asked to attend exceptional meetings or training sessions outside of these hours where it is not possible to do otherwise.

For whom responsible

The teaching and supervision of KS2 children assigned to you as directed by the Headteacher.

The direction and supervision of Teaching Assistants, student teachers and volunteer helpers in the classroom.

Additional Responsibilities

·  To undertake responsibility for the education and welfare of pupils in accordance with national conditions of service.

·  To take on a subject leadership role, with the exception of NQTs.

·  To liaise with other KS2 teachers to ensure effective progression for pupils as well as to monitor and evaluate children’s performance.

·  To liaise with year group colleagues regarding planning and organisation of the learning.

·  To liaise closely with previous class teachers to ensure continuity for the class.

·  To establish and maintain professional relationships with pupils, parents, governors and visitors to the school.

·  To take an active role in the pastoral care of all the children, supporting the school’s ethos at all times.

·  To attend and participate in INSET days, staff meetings, parent teacher consultations and open evenings.

·  To carry out additional duties, which the Headteacher may direct from time to time.

This job involves working closely with children on a daily basis. This school and the local authority are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Certificate is required for this post prior to commencement.
