What You Need to Know About Ewing Drama: Spring Musical

.It is a privilege to be in this show. Whether you have many lines, or no lines, you are essential to the production and you are all equal. Your role will be as large as your work ethic and positive energy can make it.

.Please check the Drama board each day for the rehearsal schedule. We will post the schedule about a week in advance. It will also be sent out via remind text! As we get closer to tech week, you will get more advanced notice about rehearsals. Dates are subject to change (due to illness, unexpected conflicts, etc.), so please make a habit of checking daily during lunch and checking your remind texts. You should be available Monday – Friday from 2:45 - 5 for rehearsal. If you are not making rehearsals, you may be cut from the show. Infractions will be given for missing rehearsal with no advanced notice, or for a series of tardiness without passes.

.Please be on time to rehearsal. We will warm up promptly at 2:45. If you need to come late due to extra help, please bring a pass. Try to send word with another cast member if you are going to be late and send me and Ms. B an email.

.Arrive with your script and pencil in hand. You must record all of your entrances, choreography, blocking, and exits. You alone will be responsible for your binder and script, so keep close tabs on your materials.

.No food or drink is allowed on the auditorium stageor in the dressing room (MICE). You may bring a water bottle, as long as you take it with you at the end of rehearsal.

.Cell phone use is NOTallowed during rehearsal. Turn your phones offand the assistant directors or seniors will be collecting phones in the phone bin. There is absolutely no need for you to have your phone here and they are a major distraction.

.Please dress appropriately in comfortable clothes you can move in. Wear proper footwear everyday– socks are not proper footwear. You will get shanked by our stage if you don’t have shoes on!

.Please ask permission from myself and Ms. B to miss rehearsal due to appointments, lessons, etc. It is not good practice to announce your absence at the last minute. We need you here when you are called and your absence affects many people. If you are sick and out of school, please send us an email to let us know. If you miss something, you need to make an effort to learn what you missed. We will be unable to put you in scenes/dances if you are not here, due to our time constraints.

.You may not attend rehearsal or a performance unless you are in school by noon. In other words, you may not miss school and come to rehearsal. Certain exceptions may apply.

.In Ewing Drama productions, Actors, Tech Crew members, Pit Band, and Costume Crew members are equals.

.Actors should not give each other notes. If you have an issue with another actor, please speak to your directors about it and we will clarify/settle it. Additionally, if you have an idea about staging or tech, please speak to your director about it.

.Your director may appoint a trusted actor/student assistant director/dance captain to take a group of actors to the hall to run lines, review blocking, run dances, etc. You must respect this appointed actor and listen to what they say (unless however, they attempt to give you notes. See #18 for rules regarding notes).

.We will be running warm ups each day. This is an important part of our process, so get here on time, participate fully in the warm up and be respectful of those leading you. Warming up will only make your performance better.

.We will not rehearse dances/scenes often. Sometimes we will learn or block something and not return to it for a weeks. Please take careful notes and review blocking, dances, vocals, and lines on your own.

.Do not leave rehearsal to wander around the building without asking your director, Ms. Monaco or Ms. B.

.The great thing about our program and our school is that everyone is celebrated for being an individual. Therefore, we respect the fact that you all will have your own acting process. What may work for some of you may not work for others. Help each other out and share your process with others.

.Get to know each other. If history is to be trusted, we are going to have an amazing show!

.For tech & production week, read notes given by directors and choreographers AND MAKE THE NECESSARY CHANGES ALWAYS.

.Be unique, attentive, respectful, and have fun!

.Be proud to be a EHS drama student!
