  • In-country transportation to the EY office
  • Entertainment

Where would I live?

You would live in housing that is procured by EY. You may be housed with other interns or on your own.For this reasons guests are not permitted to stay with you in your corporate apartment.

Would I have any free time to travel in my host country?

You can anticipate having free time in the evenings and on weekends to explore your host country at your own expense. Due to the short duration of the program you will not have any vacation days or time off during the week to travel. Additionally some visas might prohibit you leaving your host country to travel to a neighboring country.

What kind of support will I get from my international and home offices?

We will connect you with individuals who have already travelled to your host city or are currently serving in a rotational capacity in your host city (called expats). In addition, you will be able to rely on HR staff and client serving professionals in your host city, as well as your recruiter and HR representative in your US home location.

Will I be eligible for a full-time offer in the country in which I am interning?

You will only be eligible for a full-time offer in your US home location. However, this opportunity will allow you to meet new contacts and network with individuals in your host city. Once you spend time with the US firm as a full-time employee, you will be well aligned to take advantage of future formal and informal opportunities to travel abroad should business needs require it.

Is it required that I speak a foreign language?

Fluency in a foreign language is not required to participate in the GSE. Certain host countries such as China, Korea and Mexico require that GSE participants speak the native language since it isspoken at client sites. However, there are a number of other host countries where English is the predominant business language.

Can I choose my host country?

No. Host countries are varied due to the timing of the program, visa requirements, and host country need. If you are selected as a GSE finalist, we will obtain and consider your location preferences, but cannot guarantee them as pairings are based on your service line affiliation and business needs.

If I am selected for the GSE, can I decline the opportunity? If so, am I still eligible for my US internship?

Yes. If you are selected for the GSE, a GSE project team member will let you know your country assignment and at that point you can decline the opportunity to participate in the GSE. If you decline the GSE opportunity, you will still intern with EY US per your current employment contract.

Do I have flexibility with my travel dates to/from my host country? I have a wedding/class/family reunion/vacation/etc. planned in July.

No. Since the duration of the GSE is four weeks, it is important for GSE participants to stay in their host country for the duration of their international assignment in order to make the most of the experience. GSE participants should clear their calendars to be available beginning the last week of June through the first week of August.

If selected for the GSE, will I attend the International Intern Leadership Conference (IILC)?

Yes. All interns are eligible to attend the IILC pursuant to strong performance during their internship in the US and abroad.
