What S the Importance of Marketing and Is It Always Used Effectively?

Marketing 21st century

What’s the importance of marketing and is it always used effectively?

Background

I have chosen two topics which I am going to link. The topics I have decided to link are “what’s the point of marketing”? This was by Charles graham week 1 and “the power of television” By Dag Bennett week 4. The reason I decided to choose these two topics because there was a relation in the first topic there was a quote in the slide which said ‘Anytime someone walks into your office and says “We have to defend our position in the market”, fire them’ If you don’t grow you die which takes me back to the second topic ‘the power of television’ which is all about growth and the right way of advertising weather it’s a business or a product this is how I have come up with my question which is ‘what’s the importance of marketing and is it always used effectively’. This plan is going to explain what I am going to discuss in my presentation.

Rationale for linking topics

In week 1 Charles Graham went into depth about ‘what’s the point of marketing?’ the key issues which I highlighted from the lecture were ‘Brand maintenance’ “As a brand management firm, our goal is to provide guidance, strategic thinking and brand expertise – not total dependence. We understand that knowledge transfer is a critical step in the brand management process. We recognize that part of our success comes from helping you gain the knowledge and skills to effectively manage and implement your strategic brand roadmap on your own” (MarketPoint LLC. 2015). Brand maintenance just links back to the first topic were we spoke about ‘market share’ “Out of total purchases of a customer of a product or service, what percentage goes to a company defines its market share” if a company was maintain their brand in an effective way this would have an impact on the market share were more products would be sold due to marketing your brand and keeping a good brand name.

Brand salient “is the degree to which a brand is thought about or noticed when a customer is in a buying situation. It is the memory of a brand and its linkage to other important memory structures in a buying situation” (MBA Skool-Study.Learn.Share.2015), this was another keyword I picked up in the week 1 lecture by Charles Graham this as well links back to ‘the power of television’ because if you use the television effectively by adverts which has to be more than one and more than one channel reasons why it would get across to the consumers better as your looking to grab attention from different directions. For example depending on who your consumers are you have to use a vary of channels to advertisement by doing this is brand salient it is building the quantity and quality of memory structures, you maximize the number of consumers who will think of the brand and the number of times they think of it in various buying situations.

Media rational

The presentation is going to consist of an example of a company before and after sale when the of the advertising took place.

I have a clip which is going to going into the depth of marketing and explain to us the importance of marketing

Arguments

For –

Marketing is a way of promoting your business, without marketing unless you’re a known brand which has been around for decades you would not exist in the market which would be bad for your market share. This leads back to brand maintenance you got make your business or product known which is done through advertising.

“Do you really think that some of the world’s most successful brands that have appealed to consumers for so long – not to mention generate a consistent and ever growing revenue stream, grew due to neglect? Nobody could be that naive, could they??

Successful brand maintenance has become a survival factor for businesses.

To develop, shape, promote and maintain a brand is a never-ending task.

Developing a successful brand means being uncompromising and always alert.” (Boardroom Metrics. 2015)

This quote sums up what I was talking about you need to reach out to your audience if not how would they know you exist

Against –

The argument I have for against is marketing always effective which takes you back to my question what’s the importance of marketing and is it always use effectively.

Marketing does not always bring in more consumers reason being before you market your business or product you got to come up with a strategy. This would help you know how you’re going to advertise it and whose attention you looking to grab. Marketing has its disadvantages as well as it advantages, to some businesses using adverts would be a waste of money as nothing being gained

Presentation structure

My presentation is going to contain about 10 – 12 slide.

Firstly I am going to start with an introduction, I am going to say the two topics which I have chosen and reason for choosing them. Then I am going to put forward the question which I have come up with and then eventually throughout the presentation break it down in to bits and explain on it.

Secondly I am going to brief you reasons why I decided to link these two topics and explain the linkages between the both of them.

Thirdly I am going to present the media rational which is going to include some clips, photos and graph and charts of business sales before and after advertisement.

Fourthly I am going to form an argument for and against based on my question overview weather marketing is good for a business and reasons why sometime it could be a waste of money.

Lastly I would have a conclusion which is going to summaries the whole presentation plus the arguments which I have outlined.
