WHAT IS THE YOUNG ACHIEVER’S AWARD?

A cash prize of £250together with a trophyawardedby the Insurance Institute of Sheffieldto publicly recognise the outstanding achievement of youngerprofessionals in the Insurance and Financial Services industry within South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire.

There will be two awards: one for the Personal Finance Society Young Achiever and one for the General Insurance Young Achiever

ENTRY CRITERIA

Candidates should be CII membersaffiliated to the Insurance Institute of Sheffield at the time of applicationand meet the following criteria:

  • Be under 35 years of age as at 31stDecember 2017;
  • Have been working in the insurance or financial services industry for at least two years;
  • Entrants can be from any section of the industry, but only one submission per person will be considered.

THE YOUNG ACHIEVER WILL BE

  • Someone who is doing an outstanding job and/or;
  • Who is making good progress in their career and/or;
  • Who is contributing something to the wider insurance industry.

By winning the Award, it has raised my profile, enhanced my career development and has a very positive reflection on my employer.

The Award shows the varied contribution that young people are making to every aspect in the insurance industry.

HOW TO ENTER

  1. Does the candidate meet the entry criteria?

EXAMPLES OF KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Some examples of key performance indicators against which individuals could be measured are listed below. This is by no means exhaustive and other equally valid measures may be cited:

  • Using own initiative to solve a business challenge or add value in their area.
  • Successfully managing their career and development including proactively seeking opportunities to gain exposure to new areas and develop new skills
  • Successful delivery of a work based project which has made a significant contribution to the individual’s section/department or to the service provided to its customers
  • Achievement of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma level CII qualification with a national prize or distinction or achievement within an especially short timescale
  • Successful completion of an external qualification while working in a position of responsibility
  • Significant progress within their organization over a very short period
  • Contribution to the wider insurance or financial services industry through supporting local or national CII activities, submitting articles to trade press or organizing industry events for example
  • Ability to motivate others through coaching, mentoring, acting as a positive role model or influencing others to achieve a successful outcome for the business or industry
  • A record of particular achievement, perhaps as a result of extra-curricular activities e.g. charitable or community work

THE JUDGING PROCESS

The nominations will be judged by a panel comprising of members of the Council of The Insurance Institute of Sheffield.

The two selected winnerswill be invited to the Insurance Institute of Sheffield’s Annual Dinner as guests of the President.
