  1. What is Bandar Aktiviti Seni Kuala Lumpur (BAS KL)?

In a concerted effort to encourage love for arts and culture in Malaysia, the Cultural Economy Development Agency (CENDANA) launched ‘Bandar Aktiviti Seni Kuala Lumpur (BAS KL)’ on 3 March 2018. BAS KL is a promotional programme which urges families and high mobile individuals to escape to the arts during the school break.

  1. What is the objective of the programme?

BASKL aims to increase attendance and consumption of the arts by amplifying exhibitions and activities with partnering venues and organisations that play host to the arts and cultural scene in Greater Kuala Lumpur.

The programme is in line with CENDANA's Energising the Arts strategic pillar and Creative Place-making, Liveability and Tourism building block that aims to contribute to the sustainability of the arts and culture sector, but also towards building and positioning Kuala Lumpur as a cultural and creativity city.

  1. When will the programme be promoted

The programme will be promoted approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the said promotional programme period mentioned in the above table.

There will be 2 periods where the programme will take place i.e. 18 August - 16 September 2018 and 24 November - 31 December 2018*.

  1. How will the programme be promoted

There will be a myriad of platforms utilised for the purpose of this promotional programme. This includes above-the-line (for e.g. television, radio, press) and below-the-line (for e.g. leaflet distribution, email marketing) platforms. CENDANA learns from every promotional programme and reviews the different tools utilised to ensure an optimum reach to our target market.

In addition to that, CENDANA may provide incentives to the visitors to the featured arts and culture events to encourage them to visit/ participate/ buy tickets. Mechanics of such incentives will be advised closer to date to participating venues and organisations.

  1. Can any arts and culture events be featured?

The campaign focuses on events** based in the Greater Kuala Lumpur which caters to the following target market:

●Young families

●High mobile individuals

●Target age of 21 - 39 years old

Whilst any event within the arts and culture sector can be submitted, priority will be given to the focused subsectors of CENDANA (outlined below), and that fulfil any of the following criteria:

●Immersive or interactive

●‘Instagram-able’ or trendy

●Unique

●Approximately costs under RM100 per family

Performing arts / Visual arts / Independent music
Traditional and contemporary arts that may include theatre, dance, music (for e.g. percussion, choir, etc.) / Ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, photography / Music produced independently – not by major commercial record labels or their subsidiaries

The event submitted must take place (completely or partially) during the said promotional programme periods.

  1. Will you need anything for the promotion?

The submission form for BASKL will outline the supporting materials required for promotion.

The venues or organisations behind the featured events will be required to participate in CENDANA’s Economic Survey and submit to CENDANA after the BASKL programme ends (within 30 days).

  1. How can we submit our event for consideration?
