A listserv is like an e-mail conference call. A listserv (or mailing list) is software that allows individuals with e-mail to “converse” with each other in writing by sending messages to only one email address. When a listserv member writes to the listserv address, every other member gets that message via e-mail sent to his or her personal mailbox. In turn, any listserv member who wishes to reply may do so by sending that reply to the listserv address. In this way, a large group may “converse” efficiently on-line. What is the purpose of the CCC Listserv?
The CCC Listserv will provide a forum for members to communicate, share information, and address community issues. One main function of the CCC Listserv will be to support the Chevy Chase Citizens Association’s Neighborhood Watch Program, and to share crime alerts and follow-up information from the Metropolitan Police Department (DC) and the Chevy Chase Village Police Department (MD).

The Chevy Chase Citizens Association’s Neighborhood Watch Program is a group of citizens that are taking an active role in making our community healthy and crime-free. The Program: 1) identifies community concerns, criminal activity, and works towards improving the quality of life in our community; 2) operates through a communication chain that includes the police, Block Captains, and residents; 3) works closely with law enforcement and other city resources to address issues of concern; and 4) utilizes the CCC Listserv to share information with the community.
