·  What do we say if Customers/Partners ask the reason for introducing the CM6040 before the CM6030?

Very strong demand for the CM6040. Decision to first go with the 40ppm version to avoid any allocation which could have occurred if we would have introduced the 2 versions together

·  Paper Size and type: A3+ or SRA3?

SRA3, transparencies. Not all trays. See full doc

·  Does the product has or Not the Instant On technology?

No, it does not. Next product will have (CM3530).

·  Drum protection: why not, as we have been pushing than message many times?

o  CPP trade-off

·  PDF direct: it is a feature EL has and not the 6040. Why?

o  Because the Mkt Demand is not high.

·  Will the device info page be still with the full black and color banner? Or will we have at launch the same layout as the one which has been implemented through CPE on the CM4730?

o  Will be available at launch.

·  Ability to do mixed mode copy?i.e. customer wants to put different paper sizes (A3 and A4) in the feeder and make copies? The device should be able to detect the correct paper size and make the respective copy.

Kauai can make copies on mixed media but only between letter and legal, not between A3 and A4.

·  Our customers often ask for the functionality of marking copies as "not original" with watermarks. Not prints - but copies. It is included in EDGELINE Technology, but in no other MFP. Maybe it is possible to add this functionality to the upcoming mfp models? (Bechtle).

Kauai only have watermarks when printing, not when copying.

·  Will the FIH port be available at launch (Was not the case for Edgeline)?

Yes, it will be available at launch.

o  FIH - Abbreviated as FIH, Foreign Interface Harness is a port that enables Hewlett-Packard (HP) multifunction printers (MFP) to use third party devices to extend the capabilities of the MFP. Using the FIH with third-party equipment allows you to track information about copies produced on an HP Digital Copy module. Additionally the FIH can also expand the MFP capabilities by adding additional fonts, forms, barcode printing, and other features. To use the FIH you first have to install the FIH software for compatible MFPs. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/F/Foreign_Interface_Harness.html

·  Is the Demo page available thru Kauai and where are the others posted?

The demo pages are now downloaded to the CRL and the CRL #’s are: G7955019112007, G7955020112007, G7955021112007, G7955022112007

·  Can we expect to get a 8 bin mailbox finisher (MBM) in the near future as we do on the 9500mfp?

No, not yet. One of the reasons is related to how we connect to Kauai. The 8 bin mailbox is designed to move away from the engine for paper jams where J&L are permanently locked to the engine. Another reason is that the MBM is made by BDT and not Canon. Our communication between the Engine and output devices requires a Canon specific connector. We would be able to look at adding it to the next Kauai version by adding the connector we need to interface with the engine to the formatter instead of going through the IPTU.

·  Can we remove color cartridges in Kauai and it will still work? Such Request comes sometimes from public sector.

No, the printers will not print if a cartridge or drum isn't present. Color access control is how to control color printing on these devices.

·  Will the platform be EFI RIP compliant? If not at launch, could it be available later thru CPE?

o  Checking into this…
