Trainee Manager

The Mespil Hotel has a fantastic opportunity for aTrainee Manager to join our team on a full-time basis in January 2018.

The Trainee Manager will take part in the National Trainee Manager Development Programme, which is a three-year programme designed for those who wish to become Hotel Department Managers on completion of the course, with a long-term goal of becoming a Hotel Manager.

Theprogramme offers structured training and work experience in the hotel’s principal departments. It allows you to train and study while in employment and to gain an internationally recognised qualification in Hotel and Catering Management. This programme is coordinated and certified by Tralee Institute of Technology, the IHF and Fáilte Ireland.

What can the Mespil Hotel offer you?

  • This is a full-time salaried position based in the Mespil Hotel, Dublin 4. The majority of time is spent working in the hotel, with periods of attendance in IT Tralee required.
  • We provide time off for attending the college in IT Tralee and to complete online components of the course.
  • We also provide time off to complete course work (usually Monday’s from 2pm to 6pm).
  • The Mespil hotel will agree to pay 50% of the college fees.
  • We will provide an allowance or pay for accommodation expenses. The hotel will arrange your accommodation for you in Tralee.
  • The hotel covers the cost of transport to Tralee.
  • The hotel will outline a training program for Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3 ensuring the program guideline is followed and experience is gained in all relevant areas.
  • You will gain practical experience in all departments of the hotel and will spend time in the following departments:
  • Bar and Restaurant
  • Front Office
  • Reservations
  • Accommodation
  • Kitchen

In the final year of the programme, you will also gain exposure to our finance, sales and marketing, human resources and operations departments.

Requirements

  • You will meet satisfactory educational requirements.
  • You will be required to have your own laptop in order to complete online aspects of the course.
  • While the Mespil Hotel will pay 50% of the college fees, you will be required to pay the remaining 50% of the fees.
  • You are required to have a minimum of 1 years previous hospitality industry experience.
  • You will be passionate about hospitality and will be fully committed to the programme and to developing your career within the Mespil Hotel.
