What are the awards?

NT Health is launching the inaugural NT Health Staff Recognition Awards to be presented at Parliament House on 20 October 2017.

The awards have been created to showcase and acknowledge staff achievements and successes across Department of Health, Top End Health Services and Central Australia Health Services, and recognise the outstanding work being developed and delivered for the benefit of all Territorians.

The Awards are designed to celebrate achievements irrespective of profession and location. Nominate your team, other deserving teams or individuals or self-nominate.

Entries are open to all staff and the awards encompass eight categories:

  • Category 1: Minister for Health – Community Award (also open to public nominations).
  • Category 2: Chief Executive – Everyday Hero
  • Category 3: Leader of the Year
  • Category 4: Emerging Leader
  • Category 5: High Performing Team
  • Category 6: Culture Champion
  • Category 7: Innovation
  • Category 8: Cadet/Trainee of the Year

Nominations won’t be accepted for Category two, the recipient of this award will be selected by the Chief Executive of

the Department of Health.

Who is eligible to apply for an award?

All NT Health employees irrespective of profession, classification or location.

How do I nominate?

Can I go over the word count?

No, a maximum of two pages is allowed, if the nomination exceeds this it will not be judged.

What happens when I nominate an individual or a team?

When nominating colleagues for a team award, you are required to enter contact information for each team member. Each team member will be asked to accept the nomination. If the team member does not accept the nomination, his or her name will be removed from the team nomination.

Similarly when you nominate an individual, the nominee will be asked to accept the nomination. If the nominee does not accept the nomination, then the nomination will not be considered further.

Can I submit a nomination in multiple categories?

Yes, but a separate form will need to be completed for each category. The same submission cannot be considered in more than one category. If a nomination has been received in a category but is in the opinion better suited to a different category, judges may move the nomination to the correct category. You will be notified if this is the case.

Can my nomination be anonymous?

Absolutely, no need to complete your details on the nomination form.

Can I self-nominate?

Yes, you are able to self-nominate for the NT Health Excellence Awards.

Will an extension for nominations be considered?

No. Because of significant event planning, late submissions cannot be accepted and extensions cannot be granted after the close off date.

Who are the judges?

Eight judging panels assess submissions. The panels' role is to assess all submissions in the eight categories. The objective of this assessment process is to determine the degree to which the nomination meets the category criteria.

The judging panel's recommendations will be submitted to the Minister for Health for final approval.

The decision of the judging panel is final and cannot be appealed.

What happens with my award submission after lodging?

Submissions shortlisted will be considered finalists. Winners within each category will be announced at the Awards ceremony on the 20October 2017.

When will winners be announced?

Finalists and winners will be announced at the awards ceremony event on 20October 2017. Photographs are taken at the presentation event. Agencies and their guests must agree to the photographs and details of their initiative to be used in the promotion of the Awards.

Does the winner give a speech at the Awards?

Yes the winner of each Award category will be expected to deliver a short acceptance speech and may be required to speak with the media and/or other groups.
