The 4 Stage Training Session PlanAccording toUnited States Soccer Federation (USSF) a session plan should be progressive and have 4 Stages, i.e.
Stage I: Technical Warm Up – maximize ball contact; maximize repetitions; progress from unopposed to opposed; integrate physical components.
Stage II: Small-Sided Activity – integrate individual and pairs tactics; integrate competition and cooperation
Stage III: Expanded Small-Sided Activity – integrate principals of attack and defense; directional play is essential; expanded numbers (3v3 to 6v6); integration of most game variables
Stage IV: Game – unconditional; laws are enforced; establish formation

Get to know your WYSA coaches
This week, we will get to know some more about Bryan Ufheil, WYSA Player Development Director and Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Winona State University.
- What are the 3 most important qualities that you coach into your teams? If you are going to die, die playing defense; 1st touch always forward and/or away from pressure; Do not give the ball away when not under pressure.
- Where are the worst fields your team has played and why? Rockford, Illinois – early games, cold, windy and 1.5 hours away
- Your one piece of advice to players taking a PK? Pick your side and no matter what don’t change your mind
- Describe a memorable game or event that you participated in as a player or coach?Beating the #1 team in the country and defending national champs, Metro State, on their field in their home opener.
- Your favorite post game food place to eat after an away game? Panera
- Grass or turf? Turf – I have been converted!
- What is your favorite Tournament? College Search Kick Off (CSK) – best showcase set up and the nicest fields you will ever see
- Your pet hate as a coach? When my team gives the ball away when not under pressure
- What is your favorite team? Manchester United
- Your #1 piece of soccer advice to any player? You can never be fit enough for this game
WYSA Jersey Distribution
Kara Lindaman and Kate Parsie will have your jerseys ready for distribution from May 1 (except for the U12 Boys who will get them this week). Uniform delivery will take place at one of the practices. Google Sheets will be used to record the jerseys. Coaches to let Kara Lindaman () know what date will work for them.
