Spring Tour

The Westlake High School Choral Department proposes a tour to Portland, OR. Tour dates will be April 4-8, 2018. This is during Spring Break, so there will not be any school days missed.

Cost of Trip: $700 (Based on a minimum of at least 75 choralstudent participants and 7 paying chaperones.)

Student cost: $700

*There will be a $25 late fee assessed to any payment that is more than 2 weeks past the payment deadlines.

The total includes the director's tour, supplements room costs and fingerprinting for

chaperones, all transportation costs, all lodging, all tips and concierge fees, admission

to all activities and meals listed on the final itinerary as "group activities", music clinics

and festival fees, commercial insurance and travel coordinator,/host cost.

Students and parents should understand that meals and snacks not listed as group meals and personal spending money are not included in the tour fee and will be the responsibility of the individual student. It is suggested that each student take approximately $75-100 (+ or -) to cover these items.

Tours are required to have a 1:10 gender chaperone ratio. Priority will be given to those

parents who register to chaperone as a couple. This allows them to share a room and

gives us the necessary ratio of male and female chaperones as required by district policy.

If there is an abundance of adults wishing to travel with the group, they will be selected

on an as needed basis to fuIfilI the necessary chaperone ratios required. Chaperones are expectedto remain with the group during the tour.

TOUR INCLUSIONS AND HIGHLIGHTS MAY INCLUDE:

Transportation on Commercial Motor Coach
Four Nights Hotel Accommodations (4-6 Occupancy for students; double for chaperones)
2 meals provided each full tour day
Participation in high school choral exchange and clinic with University Professor
Musical or concert in Portland area
Portland area sights (i.e. Rose/Japanese Gardens, River Cruise, Saturday morning market)
Afternoon at Cannon Beach (or similar) at Oregon Coast
Tillamook Cheese Factory
Evergreen Aviation and Space museum (sight of Spruce Goose plane)
Full-Time Tour Host

I understand that I have committed to the Westlake 2018 Choral Tour and the tour cost of $700. This commitment is the approval to outlay monies in your name.

I understand that if it becomes absolutely necessary to cancel participation in the tour, I am responsible for all monies that have been disbursed in my name. I understand this could be the full tour amount unless I find an eligible replacement subject to the director’s approval.

I understand that I will be charged a $25 late fee for any payment that is TWO WEEKS past the payment deadline.

I understand that there will be weekly after school tour rehearsals on Wednesdays 2:30-3:30 that I need to attend in order to learn the music to participate in tour. The rehearsals will most likely begin in February and last until the tour departure. (End of March)

For chaperones only:

I understand that I will need to make an appointment for a background check/fingerprinting at the Alpine School District Office before February 1st, 2018. (If you’ve already done this at the ASD office, you do not need to do it again in order to be a chaperone for this tour.)
