On behalf of American Legion Post 364 Family I want to welcome each Legionnaire, Auxiliary Unit, and SAL Squadron to the American Legion State Bowling Tournament.

The tournament will be held on the 25TH & 26THofFeb 2017 at Bowl American Woodbridge. We will bowl team event on Saturday the 25th at 1:00 pm and singles and doubles on the 26that 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. Out of town bowlers will be given preference for the earlier shifts on Sunday. The cost of bowling is located on the application for the tournament please type or print. Also, I ask that each team bring their yearbook so we will not have to take a long period of time to verify averages.

We will have entertainment as well as cash raffles on Saturday evening for your enjoyment and the post will be open on Friday for drinks. On Saturday, dinnerwill be available and the menu and cost is listed below. We would like a head count for the dinners to ensure we do not run out of food for our hungry guests. There is a block on your applications to say whether you will attend the dinners. Please let us know the numbers you desire. Last but not least no cash with applications, mail check or money order. Tenpin Tournament Rules 2017

USBC Moral Support Certified

  1. USBC Rules and Regulations will govern this tournament.
  1. Only members in good standing of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion are eligible for this tournament.
  1. All prizes will be on a handicap basis. 100% of prize fees will be awarded.
  1. There will be a cash prize for at least each ten (10) entries in Team, Single and Doubles. There will be one (1) cash prize awarded for each twenty (20) entries in All Events.
  1. All Events is an optional event. To be Eligible for All Events, a fee shall be designated by the Tournament Chairman. Fees must accompany the entry forms.
  1. Handicap will be computed on an individual basis of 90% of the difference of the entrant’s highest sanctioned average from the previous winter season and scratch of 220 pins. If no sanctioned average from previous winter season, the entrants handicap will be computed on the highest sanctioned average as of January 1st 2016. Entrants having no acceptable entering average under the tournament rules must bowl scratch (220). No summer league averages will be acceptable.
  1. Tournament prizes will not be awarded until the averages of all winners in each event has been verified by local association secretary or Local Association Year Book. PLEASE BRING A COPY OF YOUR ASSOCIATION YEAR BOOK.
  1. All participants are required to show their USBC and American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion Cards.
  1. Substitutes must present themselves to the Tournament Director at least one hour before they are scheduled to bowl.
  1. Entrants may bowl only once in each event. Bowlers must enter Doubles and Singles, if entered in either.
  1. Preference will be given as entries are received and as to distance entrant must travel to and from tournament site. Bowlers residing less than 50 miles from tournament site will be scheduled after those residing farther away. Please designate time preference on your entry form.
  1. Official Score: The telescore will be the official score during the game and the official tabulation sheet will then be audited and obvious errors will be corrected. Errors in scoring must be reported within twenty-four (24) hours.
  1. All claims for prize money must be made within forty-five (45) days of receipt of prize list or such claims will be disallowed. Such clams must be made to the Tournament Director with a copy going to the Department Bowling Chairman.
  1. USBC members are eligible to participate in this tournament, with high score USBC recognition automatically extended to USBC members. Bowlers may sign up for the USBC by paying the current USBC membership fee.
  1. Bowler’s responsibilities for Average: USBC rule 319a: Bowlers are responsible for verifying his/her own average, whether submitted by the bowler, the team captain or others. If the submitted average is lower than required and results in a lower classification or more handicap, the bowler’s score is disqualified. If the submitted average is higher than required, prize winnings will be based on the submitted average. In the case of a team of two or more bowlers, the averages will be combined to determine if the correct total is higher or lower than the submitted total.Average corrections can be made up to the end of the bowler’s first game of a series. Or, if anextension of time has been granted in writing by tournament management before the end of thefirst game of a series, the correction can be made within 48 hours after the end of the series.
  1. Lanes will be assigned by the Tournament Director, according to entries.
  1. All fees must accompany the entry form. All averages must be certified by your league secretary, team captain and bowler. All entries and fees MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE 10th OF FEBRUARY 2017. ENTRIES MUST BE COMPLETELY FILLED OUT.
  1. All publications and printed information needed for bowling committee, collection of feeds and entry blanks is responsibility of the tournament director.
  1. A complete list of winner and prizes must be submitted to the bowling committee and/or athletic chairman as soon as the tournament is recognized as complete, according to USBC rules and regulations.
  1. American Legion bowling tournaments are moral sanctioned events of USBC and any medal or awards rolled in accordance with the awards program of the USBC will be honored.
  1. These rules and regulations of The American Legion, Department of Virginia Tenpin Bowling Tournament shall be considered as permanent rules. Any changes to be made will have to be
