5th6th Grade
- Host site will provide two referees for each game. Each team will be ready to provide one volunteer for the scorer’s table to help with running the clock.
- An intermediate size (28.5) ball will be used. Teams should provide their own warm-up basketballs.
- Players need to wear matching jerseys or shirts.
- Man-to-man defense only, no zone defense is to be played. Teams can full court man-to-man press on defense, up to a 15 point lead.
- (4) 10 minute quarters will be played. Clock will be continuous except for during a called timeout or an official timeout as needed for injury, etc. Clock will also stop at dead balls during the last two minutes of the game. In the case of a tie, a one minute overtime session will be played. If still tied after the overtime period, a sudden-death period will be played in which the first team to score will win the game.
- 1 minute break between quarters and 5 minute break for halftime.
- Each team will have 3 timeouts per game. Timeouts will last one minute.
- Players will not foul out. If a player is playing too aggressively and fouling too frequently, he should be placed on the bench and coach should instructing them how to play better position defense.
- Bonus free throws will occur after the 7th team foul of each half, a 1-and-1 will be awarded until the 10th team foul when 2 free throws will be awarded.
- A technical foul will result in an automatic 2 points for the opponent and possession of the ball. A second technical foul by the same player or coach will result in ejection from the rest of the contest.
- There will be a point-freeze on the scoreboard in the second half if a team is ahead by 30 points.
**Please remember that this league is meant to provide a positive environment for these kids to learn the game of basketball, good sportsmanship by all is a must. Also, please remember to help out the host town and pick up your team’s bench after your game.
