JOB DESCRIPTION – Funding & Project Development Officer

LOCATION: WSAD, 7 St. John’s Parade

Alinora Crescent, Goring by Sea, West Sussex.

JOB TITLE: Funding & Project Development Officer

QUALIFICATION: Degree or equivalent and/or

Professional Qualification

REPORTING TO: Chief Officer

SALARY & HOURS: £23,000 p.a. for 35 hour week with unpaid lunch breaks

DURATION: Contract initially for 12 months

HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT: 25 days p.a.

ROLE:

·  Identify development opportunities in both the Voluntary and Statutory Sectors.

·  Develop partnership working with voluntary organisations to deliver joint projects.

·  Research appropriate grant funding and complete applications.

·  Develop and build capacity and capability within WSAD to deliver services, including volunteer recruitment and coordination.

·  Development of Marketing and PR to raise awareness of WSAD and its services.

DUTIES:

1.  Contribute to the development and delivery of WSAD’s fundraising strategy.

2.  Work with the Chief Officer on the Business Plan to ensure it meets the requirements of the organisation and the funders.

3.  Identify potential grant funding sources and write applications.

4.  Maintain up to date information on WSAD which funders may require when submitting applications.

5.  Use directories, handbooks and databases to identify potential funders and service purchasers

6.  Maintain databases of information, useful contacts, and potential future funders and service purchasers.

7.  Keep records of past and current applications, including success rate.

8.  Prepare progress reports for the Management Committee.

9.  Research information requested by WSAD’s Information & Advice Service.

10. To work with existing volunteers to ensure their needs are being met, and help recruit new volunteers to work on new services as required.

11. Carry out any other activities identified by the Director.

Person Specification

·  Able to identify development opportunities for a small voluntary organisation.

·  Experienced in the submitting of funding applications.

·  Knowledge of current local government policies which affect the voluntary sector.

·  Self motivated, resourceful, able to use initiative and plan workload.

·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·  Able to work independently and as a key member of the staff team and with the ability to work practically within a multi agency framework.

·  Prepared to be flexible in use of time and resources.

·  Be self supporting in the use of computers-word processing, email, spreadsheets and databases.

·  Committed to supporting people with disabilities.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills –

Essential

·  Experience in researching databases to raise funds i.e. from businesses, individuals or grant giving trusts.

·  Able to write funding bids and produce the required supporting material i.e. policies and procedures.

·  Able to write contract tenders and produce the required supporting material i.e. policies, procedures and plans.

·  Proven record of achieving budgets, monitoring income and expenditure, and producing spreadsheets.

·  High level of skills in using computer and Microsoft Office software, including Excel and Access.

·  A good level of education, degree standard preferable - including training in fundraising.

·  Working with or for a voluntary organisation.

·  Experience and knowledge of disability, equality and inclusion issues.

·  Have worked with volunteers.

·  Familiar with the operation of websites
