South County Little League

2017All Stars

Dear South County Little Leaguer:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you about the opportunity to be considered for participation in the 8/9/10, 9/10/11,10/11/12,Intermediate and Juniors All-Star Tournaments. To be properly considered for the All-Star tournaments, you mustindicate your interest to be evaluated to the South County Player Agent Ken Rozelsky. You can contact Mr. Rozelsky at () to indicate your interest.

Overview of the All-Star Teams

Any Majors, AAA, or AA player that is League age 8,9 or 10 is eligible for the 8/9/10 All-Star Team. Any AAA or Majors player age 9/10 or 11 is eligible for the 9/10/11 team. Any Majors player that is League age 10, 11 or 12 is eligible for the 11/12 All-Star Team. Any Intermediate or Junior player is eligible for their respective teams.

These teams are by selection only. All-Star selection is done using an intricate process, which, depending upon the level, involves the vote of players, managers and coaches, beginning with the higher levels (oldest-aged) team. This year there is not a plan to have any tryouts. Instead a committee of managers and board members will watch players during the season who have previously indicated interest and select a team based on the season of work, attitude, ability and desire to play in the tournaments.

While it is a great honor to be selected as a member of an All-Star team, there is also a substantial commitment of time and effort required in order to participate. Players are expected to attend all team events, including practices, games and social activities. The All-Star time commitment consists of daily practice for up to three hours beginning in mid-June. The All-Star season ends whenever tournament competition ends. For all levels, state tournaments are expected to take place in July and regional/statetournamentsare expected to take place in the first week of August. For the 10/11/12 competition, tournament play could continue through the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA in mid-August. For the Intermediate the Little League World Series for that Division takes place early August in Northern California.

There will be a monetary cost per player ultimately selected for All-Star participation that includes all uniform costs. There may be additional team costs that will be determined by the team parent in consultation with parents on the team. Teams advancing to the State, Regional, or World Series tournaments will incur more costs. It is South County Little League policy that no player will be denied participation based on ability to pay -- scholarships are available.

If you want your player to be considered for one of the teams please contact Ken Rozelsky (). It should be clearly understood that accepting the commitment does not guarantee selection.
