THE IMPORTANCE OF IMAGE SHARPENING
Many people either don't apply any sharpening to their RAW files, or apply the wrong settings. Here is a before and after version of the same image. On the left is the out of camera RAW file (cropped to show detail) and on the right, the final processed file with appropriate sharpening applied. In this small crop of the final image it may look overdone, but when the whole image is viewed at full size, the difference is remarkable.
We cover Sharpening and other image processing techniques in our workshops.
New dates are being rolled out for 2018.
New workshops announced for 2018

Selfitis - It really may be a real thing !
In a viral article published in 2014, it was claimed that "Selfitis" had been established as a new mental disorder. That report was false, but new research may indicate that it really is true. In an article published in DPReview, new studies have emerged.

LIGHTROOM USEFUL HINTS AND TIPS #3

Another way to create different looks for an image is to try using different colour mapping. I suggest you first create a virtual copy of your RAW file, for comparison purposes, then in the Develop Module, go all the way down to the bottom tab called "Camera Calibration".
The Process version should be set to "Version 4 (Current)" if using Lightroom Classic CC, or Version 3 for older Lightroom versions. Leave this as is and instead on the line below you will see a heading called "Profile". By default it will be set to "Adobe Standard". Click on the small up and down arrows next to this to see some alternatives. This seems to work well for Canon users, who sometimes find that the standard Adobe Profile is a bit flat. Experiment with the different profiles and the sliders below for something a little different.
