Three Credit Hours – 180 On-the-Job hours
Course Prerequisite: Faculty Advisor/Co-op Coordinator or Faculty Approval
Course Description:
This courseis designed to provide students with major-related, supervised, evaluated practical training work experiences which may be paid or voluntary. Students are graded on the basis of documented learning acquired through hands-on experiences in an actual work setting. The student must fulfill the requirement of 180 on-the-job hours earned in addition to written assignments.

Grading Policy
1.)Completion and submission of the Co-op Goals – First Week of Class; andSubmission ofBi-Weekly (every 22.5 job hours)Progress Reports towards Goals->50% of the grade.
2.)The End of ProgramEmployer Evaluation -> 50% of the grade:
A- Exceeds Standards, B-Meets Standards& C-Below Standards

90% – 100% = A
80% – 89% = B
70% – 79% = C
Below 69% = I
3.)Until the grades are out at the end of the semesterand the student has applied for graduation, the student has not graduated.
End Of Program:
1. This course is an EndOf Program course where the student enrolls essentially in their last semesterbefore graduation.
Major Learning Outcomes:
1. The student will demonstrate an understanding of the terminology and procedures used in the workplace.
2. The student will demonstrate an understanding of the personnel policies of the place of employment.
3. The student will demonstrate an understanding of the classroom course content, including theory and skills, to a job situation.
4.The student will demonstrate an understanding of the principles of human relations skills in the work setting.
5. The student will demonstrate an understanding of career choices.
Course Objectives Stated and Performance Terms:
- The student will demonstrate an understanding of the terminology and procedures used in the workplace by:
- Recognizing the terminology used in the workplace froma given list of terms.
- Explaining the procedures used in the workplace
- Identifying and agreeing with the employer on additional workplace related learning objectives
- The student will demonstrate an understanding of the personnel policies of the place of employment by:
- Identifying and agreeing with the employer on additional related personnel policies.
- Interpreting these policies via the required written assessment at the end of the term.
- Identifying and agreeing with the employer on additional workplace related learning objectives.
- The student will demonstrate an understanding of the classroom content, including theory and skills, to a job situation by:
- Applying the theory and skills to the work environment
- Transferring terms learned in the classroom to a written project
- Identifying and agreeing with the employer on additional workplace related learning objectives
- The student will demonstrate an understanding of the principles of human relation skills, in the work setting by:
- Demonstrating appropriate skills of listening, speaking and managing emotions
- Receiving a satisfactory evaluation from the employer in these areas
- Identifying and agreeing with the employer on additional workplace related learning objectives
- The student will demonstrate an understanding of career choices by:
- Objectively assessing the cooperative work experience in relation to career choice
- Identifying and agreeing with the employer on additional workplace related learning objectives
Written Goals/Objectives & Assignments:
- The student will identify the one Engineering Technology SupPlanand the company/businessthey will perform their Co-Op work experience by the first week of class. Typically, the selection is based on the Engineering Technology SubPlan the student is obtaining their Eng. Tech. A.S. degree in.
- The student will provide the instructor a written paper defining a minimumof 3 Goals/Objectives in which they will achieve their 180 hour(16 week) Co-op work experience.
- The Goals/Objectives must line up with theEngineering TechnologySub-Plan Major Learning Outcomes identified in the End of Program Outcomes Assessment Report.
- For the Aviation Maintenance Management TechnologySubPlan, the goals/objectives must line up with the End of Program Major Learning Outcomes/Quiz.
- The student will provide the instructor with a written progress report at the end ofevery 22.5 Co-Op on the job hours indicating the progress toward the stated goals/objectives.

Employer Criteria Performance Standard:
Upon successful completion of the Co-op Work Experience, the Employer will complete the“End of Program – Cooperative Education (CO-OP) Review Assessment”
- The Assessment must be signed by the student’s company Co-op Evaluator andapproved by Supervisory company personnel.
- This Review Assessment has to be submitted no later than the last week of class.

STUDENT SURVEY OF INSTRUCTION (SSI)
The student survey of instruction is administered in courses each semester. It is designed to improve the quality of instruction at St. PetersburgCollege. All student responses are confidential and anonymous and will be used solely for the purpose of performance improvement. The survey will be available on MyCourses under the Lessons tab. It will be active towards the end of the semester.
HURRICANE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
In the event that a hurricane or other natural disaster causes significant damage to St. Petersburg College facilities, you may be provided the opportunity to complete your course work online.
