Welcome to Sleaford Tennis Club!

Sleaford Tennis Club is a very friendly, very sociable (more on that later) tennis club, who enjoy playing, no matter what age, what ability, and sometimes even whatever the weather. The age range varies from as young as three all the way up to people suspected to be well into their 70s.

Our coach is Kevin Hawkesworth, a patient, funny and very good tennis player. Coaching for juniors takes place in different age groups, and these are red, orange, green and, eventually, yellow. The red group is for those under the age of 8, the orange group is for under 9s, the green for under 10s and then, for anybody 11 and over, it’s the yellow group. All coaching sessions are held at Carre’s Grammar School.

Mini red (under 8’s) Saturday and Sunday 9-10 at Northgate Hall

Mini orange (under 9’s) Sunday 10-11 at Carre's courts

Mini green (under 10’s) Saturday 10-11 at Carre's courts

Yellow ball (10-12's) Saturday 11-12 at Carre's courts

Yellow ball (13+) Saturday 12-1 at Carre's courts

However that’s not all. If you aren’t lucky enough to be young enough to fit into these age groups, there are still many ways to play tennis and to receive coaching. On a Sunday morning, there is a ‘rusty rackets’ session, which is open to anyone: those who have never played before and want to give it a go, those, who after many years away from the game, decide they want to play again, or those just looking to improve their game. It’s a relaxed atmosphere and nobody cares how good you are! Kevin also runs private sessions for children and adults by arrangement.

The main adult sessions are the ‘club nights’ which take place three times a week, also held at Carre’s. These are on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday and run from 6PM until the light, or the players, give out. There are also several teams that play in competitive matches throughout the season: there is a men’s team, a ladies team, and two mixed teams. These matches are always good fun to take part in (especially the teas afterwards).

There are also many social events which the club holds. Firstly, there is the wonderful pre-Wimbledon Ball which is a great black tie event, with a very good meal and night of music. There is also a club presentation evening every year where we get together, present the trophies and have an informal meal and evening of Ceilidh dancing, always a great laugh. There are also quiz nights, cheese and wine evenings and sometimes just a lazy weekend afternoons of social tennis, where everyone brings a plate. There is also tennis club clothing available from ‘hoodies’ to hats, high tech sports shirts to simple t’s. The club also has a good link with the local sports shop Sporting Lincs, and this allows club members a 10% discount on sporting goods.

All the information on upcoming events, match results and the playing times can also be found on the club website;

We look forward to seeing you soon, both on and off the court.
