Welcome to our Autumn 2016 Newsletter.
NEWS FROM THE SURGERY
Telephones
Through patient surveys, FFT comments and complaints, we the surgery have listened to you and purchased a new telephone system. We now have patient queuing from 1-20 so you will know where you are, and we can also run real time audits which we hope to publish in the next newsletter.
Minor Illness Nurse
Again following patient survey comments, you have said that more appointments were required. We have now hired Rosetta, a Nurse Prescriber who can see all for the following minor illnesses:
Joiners and Leavers
Dr Samlia Asad joined us on 1st September and will be working 6 sessions per week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Dr K Stray will also be joining the surgery on 20th September and will be working 3 days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Dr Chrysosotom will be dropping 1 day a week as he is going to be retiring in 2017 – he will be working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Dr Hopeson Alifoe: ear, nose and throat
Dr Dewji: paediatrics
Dr Bipin Patel: cardiology.
Dr Islam: paediatrics and cardiology
Dr Maddipati : Diabetes
All these specialties run alongside the GPs’ work within Hilltops as well as their outside roles.
Flu Clinic (Flu Season)
Are you entitled to a free Flu Jab - do you come into one of the following Criteria?
• Those aged 65 years and over
• Those aged six months - under 65 in clinical risk groups
• Pregnant women
• All two-, three- and four-year-olds (but not five years or older) on 31 August 2016
• All children of school years 1 and 2
• Those in long-stay residential care homes
• Carers
This season’s clinic dates are:
Saturday 1st and Saturday 15th October between 8.30am and 12 noon.
Book your appointment now with one of our receptionists.
Car parking is at a premium on flu clinic days, so if you can walk to the surgery or car share this would be helpful.
We have had the CQC visit and have been awarded the Rating of Good.
(The Patient Survey will be available in October online at Hilltops Medical Centre website and also at the Reception desk so please do your best to fill one in).
Changes to Hilltops Medical Centre Appointments
At Hilltops, we are always looking to improve our appointment system.
For the last five years our appointments system has been as follows:
1/3rd released 6 weeks in Advance
1/3 Released 48 hours in advance
1/3 Released on the day.
Following our last patient survey in August 2015, the results were as follows:
Our GP appointments can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance and our Nurses and HCA appointments are 3 months in advance. Thinking of your last appointment, when was it booked?On the day of the appointment / 186

We have also taken your comments on board that you wanted more appointments to be available on the day. To this end, we are trialing a new system from 1st January 2016 for three months, as agreed with the PPG on 2nd December.

17% of Our Appointments for GPs will be released 1 week in Advance
20% of our appointments for GPs will be released 24hours in advance
You can book appointments in several ways:
1. Face to Face at Reception
2. Via the Telephone
3. On Line if you are signed up to System Online. If have not already done so and wish to register for this service, please ask one of our receptionists for details on how to register.
If you wish to discuss results of tests or medication queries, you can book a telephone consultation with one of our GPs and these can be booked up to one week in advance.
Our Extended hour’s appointments on Tuesday – Thursday 7am -8am are all pre-bookable and not available on the Day. Saturday Extended Hours 8.30am -11.30am are all pre-bookable. We do not see emergency appointments 7-8am/Saturday mornings – for these you need to contact 111.
Cancellations If you are unable to attend your appointment, please telephone the surgery as soon as possible so your appointment may be offered to another patient. Alternatively, you can text your name, DOB, who your appointment is with and when to 07758 755998, 24 hours a day. You can also cancel your appointment online using System Online 24hours per day. You can also get the App for iPhones and Android.
TEAPOTS
Teapots is now back for the Winter and will continue to hold tea and chat sessions at Church of the Holy Cross, High Street , Two Mile Ash on the 1st Thursday of each month between 2.30pm and 4.30pm during the Autumn/Winter months. We have representatives from Age UK and Carers MK on hand to offer additional support and advice.
HILLTOPS PPG
Meetings take place every four months and minutes are available within the Hilltops website PPG section.
Hilltops PPG is run by the patients for the patients, meeting regularly and working closely with the doctors at the practice. New members are always welcome so do come along and join us.

MK Health
Most of you know that from October 2015 a new £50million Challenge Fund is being trialed to help improve access to general practice and stimulate innovative ways of providing care services in the UK. Milton Keynes is one of several areas around the country that were successful in bidding to be a pilot area.
How will this help improve healthcare services for residents in Milton Keynes?
The pilot will make it easier for people to be seen quicker through:
• Extending opening hours for GP Practices
• The Creation of a dedicated Children’s Primary Care Team
• Rapid response service for adults.
Please note: If you consent for your records to be shared with these services you will be able to be seen by these teams.
Reception Staff can now refer children between the ages of 10 days and 2 years old to the Children’s Primary Care Nursing Team for Children for the following:
•Cough, Dehydration, Diarrhea and or Vomiting, Ear/Throat Problems
•Feeding Problems – Infants
•Fever symptoms, Gastric reflux, Other – Monitoring of a diagnosed condition,
Other advice & support
•Rashes that disappear when pressed with a glass, skin condition flare up
•Sore eyes – no history of trauma, thrush, urinary symptoms
(with no previous history of the same and over 6 months of age)
