How to give smokers the best chance of stopping smoking for good

Routinely offering Very Brief Advice to smokers and referring them for support with their local NHS Smokefree Service is one of the most important things you can do.

What is Very Brief Advice?

Advise The best way to stop smoking for good is a combination of expert support and prescription stop smoking treatments.

Act Refer to New You NHS Smokefree Service on 0300 303 1603.

What does the New You NHS Smokefree Service provide?

·  Free, expert advice and friendly support.

·  Weekly appointments for at least six weeks.

·  Personal quit plan, tailored to the smoker’s needs.

·  Advice about nicotine dependence and withdrawal.

·  Access to prescription stop smoking treatments to help beat cravings.

·  Motivational tips on how to stay on track.

·  Chance to use a carbon monoxide monitor, to see progress and recovery in action.

New You NHS Smokefree Service has appointments in a range of local venues, such as health and community centres. Most appointments are one-to-one with occasional group courses.

We have a range of free New You NHS Smokefree Service resources to use at your pharmacy, including posters, cards, flyers and leaflets.
