Course requirements:

• Come to class prepared and do your best.• 3 ring binder, to act as your notebook
Grading:
The grades will be determined on a cumulative point system. Each assignment being worth a given number of points (the percent grade is determined by dividing the number of points received by the number of points possible). The following proportions will determine the report card grade:
Tests: 50% Quizzes: 25%Labs: 25%
Labs:
Lab work is a significant portion of the overall grade. The lab work will be designed to have you gain a better understanding of topics we discuss. Therefore, you will need to be very thoughtful and complete when doing your lab work.
You will be working in groups to help generate ideas and solutions with your peers. The group will collect data, discuss the results/concepts, and answer the questions of the lab.
Quizzes:
There will be frequent quizzes. Their purpose is to check on your understanding of the most recent material and to emphasize the importance of keeping up with the work.
Tests:
There will be 2-3 tests per quarter. They will be comprised of objective questions (multiple choice/true or false, fill-in-the-blank) and short answer/diagram. Therefore, the understanding of the concepts and ideas is critical to doing well.
Homework:
Homework will be assigned on a regular basis. It will be used to introduce or reinforce a topic. They will take the form of work sheets, readings with accompanying written work, readings with no accompanying written work, general or specific studying/review, and completion of work started in class.
Absence From Class:
If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to determine the work missed and get caught up. You are expected to turn in missed work on your own without prompting from me. It is strongly recommended that you have a classmate that you can call if you miss class time. Each day’s DASH along with most accompanying work and notes will be posted on my web page.
Notebook:
Your notebook (3 ring binder) should contain all work, notes, and handouts. Since we will not be relying on the textbook, this notebook will prove to be invaluable.

THINK
If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to win, but you think you can't,
it's almost a cinch you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you are lost
For out in the world we find.
Success begins with a fellows will:
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are:
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself before
you can ever win a prize.
Life's battle doesn't always go
to the stronger of faster man.
But sooner or later the man who wins
is the man who thinks he can.
