Design and Drafting

This initial course will explore various topics relating to the designing and drafting realm. Students will learn and explore the world of engineering, architecture, and computers. This is a full year High School level course intended as an introduction to the topic of Technology.

Design and Drafting Curriculum*

1)  Measurement

2)  Fundamentals of AutoCAD

3)  Drafting in AutoCAD 2D

4)  Introduction to Autodesk Inventor

5)  Introduction to Autodesk Revit

*Curriculum subject to change due to scheduling, snow days etc.

Grading Policy

1)  Tests will be given following each chapter in the text book. Please check the calendar on the school website for testing dates.

2)  Drafting Projects will be graded upon completion. They will be graded with a Common Core Standard Rubric.

3)  Weekly article summaries will be graded with a pass or fail check (similar to a homework grading system)

Homework

1)  Due to the reliance on computer intensive work, homework will be kept to a minimum. Most homework will come in the place of studying for chapter tests or making up late or missing work.

2)  Article summaries will take the place of homework assignments. Articles will be read in class and summaries will be written. These will be submitted at the end of the class.

Common Core Notes

. This course is strictly aligned to the NYS MST Standard 6 concerning Technology. As of 2012, all subject material will focus on the Common Core Learning Standards.

Per New York State Education Department, students in non-core related subjects are required to take 2 Student Learning Objective exams. These exams consist of a Pre and Post test distributed at the beginning and end of each school year. These tests are designed to measure educational growth throughout the school year.
