Parent Report Card Meeting – October 1st 6:30-7:30 (Grades 1-4 Parents) –

Newfane Elementary School has revised their report cards to reflect the Common Core Learning Standards and will be implementing these new report cards this fall. To help parents understand the new report cards and answer questions they may have, I will be hosting a Parent Report Card evening at the Elementary School on October 1st from 6:30-7:30 in the Café. During this meeting I will present a power point presentation that provides an overview of what Standards Based Report Cards are, as well as grade level specific guidance documents and report card samples for parents to review. There will also be plenty of time to answer parent questions. Hope to see you there!

Fire Prevention Week –

During the week of October 5th, the students at Newfane Elementary School will be working with our local Fire Departments and Justin Birmingham, our SRO (School Resource Officer) to learn about fire prevention, fire safety, and personal safety. On October 5th and 6th, the students in Kindergarten-grade 2 will rotate through fire prevention stations set up at the school by our local volunteer fire fighters. On Wednesday, October 7th, our third grades will take a field trip to the Miller Hose Fire Hall to take a tour of the facilities and to learn key information about fire safety and prevention. Field trip request forms will be sent home shortly for parents and guardians to sign. Finally, on Friday, October 9th, Deputy Birmingham will visit each of our fourth grade classrooms and talk to the students about how to keep themselves safe. Parents are welcome to attend any of these assemblies with their children. If you are interested in attending, please contact your child’s teacher for the specific times for their presentations and please remember to sign in at the main office when you arrive at school.
