Welcome Back to School!

August 18, 2016

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jessica Howard and I will be your child’s third grade teacher this year. This will be my fifteenth year teaching at Frankfort Square School, and my twentieth year as a teacher. It’s Amazing how time flies! As you may know, I have been teaching fourth grade for the past nine years. Before that, I taught third grade for six years. I am super excited to be going back to third grade this year! I truly love teaching students at this age. I am a graduate of Valparaiso University and completed my master’s degree in education at Saint Xavier University in December 2005 (just days before my daughter Kara was born!). It is hard to believe that she is a fifth grader this year. Her little sister Sienna is in second grade. I love to travel, run, do yoga, I am a White Sox fan, and I am excited to start this school year with your child!

In order to not overwhelm you and your child on the first day back I will be sending home more information about curriculum, homework, classroom procedures, expectations, and consequences during Curriculum Night, however there is some information that I would like to share at this time.

Our class will be having P.E. Monday through Friday. It is important for your child to be prepared with gym shoes each day.

Your child will have snack time in the morning. You may send a healthy snack with your child in their lunchbox. Students will also be allowed to keep a water bottle next to their desk throughout the day as long as it does not cause a problem.

I will be posting a weekly update on my webpage at summithill.org, as well as sending it out by e-mail. Please check this each weekend. Feel free to contact me at any time with any concerns you may have. You may call me at school, send a note with your child, or send an e-mail. My e-mail address is .

I look forward to working with you to provide the best year possible for your child.

See you Tuesday at Curriculum Night!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Howard
