JSI Program Team Meets in Retreat

A three day retreat was organized at Islamabad for Program staff of JSI from 20-22 July 2009. Different program activities were reviewed and future planning was discussed. Hands-on training was also arranged on use of monitoring tools and various suggestions were noted for updating the monitoring tools used for JSI/PAIMAN activities. On day three CAM partners including SCUS and JHU discussed on health facility image building and district brochures. COP Dr. Nabeela Ali, praised the good performance by the team and gave her feedback on gaps and ways to manage them according to the quality requirements of the project.

Implementation of the partnership Defined Quality (PDQ)

BHU Urak (Quetta)an adjoining facility of RHC Kuchlak was selected for PDQ as an alternate to RHC Sorenjin consensus with the district health department,due to limited functionality and Security issues.Mapping of the facility was completed. During the meeting with facility staff, PPHI staff was also present, PDQ process and future plans were discussed in detail. Mapping was also completed in two selected Health facilities of Sibi for PDQ Process.

Increasing capacity of MNCH managers and health Care Providers

LHW Trickle down trainings were conducted in district Zhob from 23-27July 2009. 50 LHWS were trained in two batchesfrom DHQ female Hospital, Zhob (Balochistan).

6th IMNCI training at Sindh is in progress and will be completed on 31st July 2009. In these 6 trainings total 139 HCPs have been trained from Sukkur, Dadu and Khairpur.

Support in Establishing and Effective Functioning of DHMTs

CONTCH organized 2nd workshop on District Health Management Strengthening for provinces NWFP, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and AJK from 23-24 July, 09 at Muzaffarabad. The main objective of this workshop was to increase commitment and bridge a gap between provincial and districts health departments to improve the areas of system strengthening especially focusing on DHMTs and DAOP. DGHS Sindh, respective DCOs and EDOHs attended the workshop.

All batches of DHIS trainings for health facility staff in districts Khairpur were completed by CONTECH.

Assessment on Performance of Routine Information System Management (PRISM) was carried out in districts Vehari, Rawalpindi and DGKHAN, based on LQAS technique. This assessment is also labeled as District Supervisory Assessment System (DSAS). Contech led this activity where in district managers were involved in assessment process.

PAIMAN-FATA

Contech organized an experience sharing visits for Agency Health Management Teams (AHMTs) of Khyber and Khurram agency on 13-15 July, 09 at district Rawalpindi to provide them first hand exposures to the best practices for health system strengthening and to encourage the agencies to adopt in their own settings. The teams also visited THQH Murree.
