Weekly Activities Spreadsheet

Goal: When you have completed this activity, you will know how to do the following in a

spreadsheet:

1.  learn how to read a spreadsheet to get information
2.  learn how to draw emphasis to the heading as well as add shading and borders to the data cells by the Home tab select the Format command and then select the Format Cells command to apply cell effects
3.  using header and footer in excel
4.  learn how to format the text diagonal by changing its Orientation from the Format Cells dialog box in the Font group
5.  learn how to select the function command (fx) for AVERAGE
6.  learn how to format the legend on a chart to emphasize text
7.  learn how to add clipart and borders to an excel document

Steps

1.  Open the Excel file called Weekly Activities Spreadsheet and click on the INSERT Ribbon to format the Header to include your name, period, and date

2.  Fill in the following information:

B4:F4 1

C5, E5, F5 .5

B6:G6 1

E7 1.5

D8, H8 2

G9, H9 3

3.  Select cell I3 and create a formula to get the totals for each activity and copy the formula for each activity

4.  Select cell B14 and create a formula for the average time spent daily on each activity by selecting the AVERAGE (fx) function and selecting cells to be averaged

5.  Create a formula for the total hours spent weekly by selecting cell I11 and manually typing the cell addresses to be added

6.  To emphasize all the school based activities change the text diagonally for Band Practice, Student Council, and Science Club

7.  Create a 2D Clustered Bar Chart

8.  Format the chart legend to emphasize the school based activities in BOLD

9.  Add a clipart picture to decorate your document

10.  Add a border around the averages
