LANGUAGE AND LITERACY
  • Children will become more and more aware of print. Demonstrate interest in books that have color, pattern, contrast, pictures, and text. They will gaze, babble, pat, point, etc. and they will focus on pictures in a book during social/lap reading.
  • Children will gain and use an increased amount of vocabulary in everyday speech. Use single words to identify people and things. They will look at or move toward named persons/things, repeat sounds initiated by adult, etc.
  • Children will actively engage with a story/pictures with an adult during reading.
STANDARDS:1.1 I/YT.B, 1.2 I.J, 1.3 I.B / COGNITIVE
  • Children will demonstrate increased independence as they explore their environment and engage in new activities. Explore in the comfort of a familiar adult or surrounding. They will engage in play routines, and become involved with unfamiliar adults as long as a familiar adult is close by.
  • Children’s engagement and attention to tasks will develop over time. They will interact with others, objects, or activities for short periods of time. They will attend to adults during reciprocal interaction, gaze with interest at adults, peers, or objects. They will engage in exploration or objects.
STANDARDS: AL.1 I.B, AL.2 I.A / CREATIVE THINKING (MUSIC, DRAMATIC PLAY, ART)
  • Children will use a variety of technologies in music and movement activities. They will use technologies for producing music as well as explore musical instruments. They will use variety of props (scarfs, ribbons, etc.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
(Health/wellness)
  • The children will be able to move and observe hands, toes, and fingers when laying on teachers lap or back.
  • Children will be able to establish and maintain individualized daily routines.
  • Children will be able to move and control head and back and coordinate movement of arms and legs.
STANDARDS: 10.1 I.B, 10.2 I.A 10.4 I.A / SOCIAL EMOTIONAL
  • Children will use relationships with trusted adults and peers to meet needs. The will indicate needs through vocalization and body movements (cry, point and move toward object, use basic sign, and gestures).
  • Children will demonstrate an increased understanding of socially acceptable behaviors. They will respond to adult guidance, demonstrate basic understanding of rules.
STANDARDS: 16.2 I/.E, 16.3 I/.B / MATH, SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES
  • For our younger infants this is still emerging.
  • Children will be able to stack and build with various shaped and sized blocks.
  • Children will be able to stack and unstack different objects.
  • Children will be able to dump and fill in and out of containers around the room.
STANDARDS: 2.1 I.A.1, 2.3 I.A.1
OUTDOOR TIME: Weathering permitting- between 25’-90’F, NO precipitation, and good air quality children will take walks in the bye-bye buggy, as well as play in the play yard and courtyard areas.
TRANSITIONS:Continue to welcome Our new families, helping the children adjust to their new settings.
