1. What is Weblogs/blog? / Weblogs, commonly referred to as blogs, are a relatively new form of personal publishing. In the last few years the Web has witnessed a blogging explosion.
A blog is similar to an electronic journal or diary.
2. What is the writer of a blog known as and what does he/she
do? / The writer, known as a blogger, makes periodic entries, sometimes as frequently as a few times a day
3. What can Blogs be? / Blogs can be on any subject, for instance, politics, relationships or daily observations while driving to work.
4. In the early days of blogging, blogs typically consisted of what? / Blogs typically consisted of lists of links to interesting websites or articles, along with some annotation or commentary from the blog's editor.

10.  What is a Domain Name? List 2 examples. / A domain name always has two or more parts separated by dots and typically consists of some form of an organization's name and a three letter or more suffix. 1. The domain name for IBM is "ibm.com"

11.  Briefly describe what a Generic Top-Level Domain is and list 5 examples. / The domain name suffix is known as a generic top-level domain (gTLD) and it describes the type of organization. However in the last few years, the lines have blurred somewhat between these categories.

13. List the 5 technical requirements to consider before you start
thinking of a name. / 1. A domain name can be up to 67 characters long, including the extension, such as .com, at the end.
2. The name can include numbers and all 26 letters of the alphabet, but not special characters such as @, #, $, ?, etc.
3. The exception is hyphens ( - ), but they can't occur at the beginning or end of the name.
4. No spaces can be used within a name.
5. A domain name is not case sensitive--learnthenet.com is the same as LearnTheNet.com

14.  What is a Wiki? / A wiki is a website that encourages and enables people to participate in the creation and editing of its content. The software makes it easy--all that's needed is a web browser and some non-technical know-how.
15.  When was the 1st Wiki created and what was the programmer’s name? / The first wiki was created in 1995 by a programmer named Ward Cunningham as a supplement to the PortlandPatternRepository website.
16.  Why did he want to create Wikis? / He wanted to democratize the creation of online content by providing a way for people to openly share their knowledge and to be accountable to the group for the accuracy of their information. It was a radical idea at the time and still is among those who believe that the best information comes from "experts."
17.  Briefly describe the most successful Wiki. / The most successful wiki is Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia that launched in 2001; it's now become the largest reference site on the Web.
18.  What makes a Wiki different from the other sources? / What makes wikis different is that anyone with access to the wiki, which might be anyone with Internet access, has the ability to modify, edit or add to the content.
