Course Description:

The 7th grade course for science is comprised of Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science, which are the three main branches of science. Each branch of science will review the basic tenets of the field as well as provide students an appreciation for the currents events taking place in the world.

Grading Scale:

93-100% A

85-92% B

75-84% C

70-74% D

Below 70% F

Grading Policy:

50% Tests/Projects

40% Quizzes/ Labs

10% Classwork/Homework Graded for completion only: 0% (not handed in), 50% (incomplete), 100% (complete)

10% LATE FOR EVERY DAY LATE ON LABS AND PROJECTS UP TO 5 DAYS: 50 THEN STAYS

Materials Needed:

Binder with tabs for bellwork/notes/study guides and graded papers

(or 5 subject notebook to glue everything into is acceptable)

Lab notebook (marble composition book)

Glue sticks

Pens and Pencils

Red pen

Highlighters

Colored Pencils

Scissors

Science Textbook (must be covered)

Tests and Quizzes:

Tests: scheduled in advance and will be posted on my webpage. Tests usually cover a chapter at a time, and each will have a study guide for students to fill out. We will review in class the day before, but your student is encouraged to study a little each day.

Quizzes: vocablulary quizzes for each chapter will be given, and occasional notebook quizzes to ensure students have a well-organized complete science notebook. Other quizzes may be "pop" quizzes with not advance warning.

Heading Your Paper: Students need their full name as well as science section to receive credit for the work they hand in. Conduct marks will be given out for unnamed work.

Make-up Work Policy: Students are allowed one day for each day absent to make up any work, including quizzes or tests. Please check with me for the day to make up work, usually it will be Tuesday before or after school.
