Working within the Web Team, I have been a major player in the re-launch of the award-winning (Source: Novell) Action.com website. As the senior developer, I was responsible for all aspect of our website, ranging from front-end customer interface development to back-end data manipulation. As the company XML expert I was tasked with the design and implementation of our database structures and communication scripts which had to provide real-time data flow to and from our internal systems and middleware messaging applications for our partners and affiliates. I also designed and developed much of the enhanced functionality such as the multiple billing/delivery address module, real-time credit card validation, on-line product browse, custom catalogue and customised landing page for our corporate clients, order tracking system and many other projects.
Additional responsibilities included working closely with our webmaster in supporting the site 24/7. This included remote monitoring of our server farm in order to anticipate and prevent disaster, as well as detailed site analysis used to enhance the customer experience. Feedback to customers on technical queries was also essential. Prior to this, I was given the project of providing Action with a corporate Intranet. I personally managed the feasibility study, design and implementation of this, which is now accessed by around 1000 staff located nationally.

Additionally, I was responsible for supporting our on-line transactional systems plus managing the overnight system processing performed by our operations team, offering them both direct support and business process management and analysis. Other responsibilities included documentation, internal staff training, quality assurance and testing. Also, I offered expertise to Platform Support where required. I was also responsible for solving live system problems resulting from program or data failure and offered direct user feedback when a solution was achieved.
