Assessment Plan:

We will have various forms of assessments that will give you many opportunities to reflect and improve on your learning. These can include, but are not limited to, “Do Now’s”, exit tickets, online forums, and class/group activities. Homework assigned will reinforce material and class discussion, and will be in the form of practice problems, applications, and case studies. Quizzes and unit exams will not only assess skills and content, but will also include open-ended and application problems. All quizzes and unit exams will be announced several days in advance. In-class, open-notes assignments may NOT be announced. We will also have RANDOM calculator checks that will count as a homework grade.

Lessons and assessments will focus on the 8 Mathematical Practice Standards:

  1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
  2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
  3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
  4. Model with mathematics.
  5. Use appropriate tools strategically.
  6. Attend to precision.
  7. Look for and make use of structure.
  8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
