JUST A THOUGHT…
We missed you all very much last weekend. The Confirmation Service went well in Baton Rouge, but we are excited about being back “home.”
We’re also returning to our “HOW TO DEAL” sermon series and this week, we’re looking at “How to Deal with Fear.” There are a lot of people who are gripped with fear and/or anxiety in their lives. Some are afraid of the dark, of water, of being alone, of relationships. I know a woman who experiences all of these – at one time!
If you know of someone who might be experiencing fear of some kind, invite them to join you on Sunday as we see what the Bible has to say about this most interesting and life-changing subject.
See you Sunday…
And remember – on October 2 – we return to our 10:00 AM start time!
Steve
TIME CHANGE ON OCTOBER 2
No, not that one! We’re changing our time of Worship back to our beginning time of 10:00 AM on Sunday, October 2. Please make a note of that & tell your friends and I’ll see you at 10:00 AM – beginning on the first Sunday in October. As an aside, our plans for an Adult Bible Study should not be affected by this change, as we have the space at Country Inn from 8:00 AM till Noon.
UPWORDS
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whoever
would believe in Him would not perish, but would have everlasting life,” (John 3:16).
OUR DEEPEST CONDOLENCES
Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are extended to Kevin and Brittany Combel in the passing of Kevin’s sister Erica. We have been praying for her for weeks, now, and she passed on Friday, September 16. Erica’s funeral was on Tuesday, September 20 in Franklinton. Please continue to remember Kevin, Brittany and their entire family in your prayers…
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Problems are not stop signs. They’re guidelines.”
(Dr. Robert Schuller).

“HOW TO DEAL”
NEW SERMON SERIES
Many times in life we react to what’s happening around us. Some of those situations are of our own doing, while others catch us off guard. This short series of messages will speak to us about those things in life that come our way – and what does the Bible say to them.
We’re going to learn – from a biblical perspective – “HOW TO DEAL” with Misfortune, Temptation, Aging, Anger, Disappointment, Failure and Fear.

The Bible is our Guide. The Bible is our Survival Kit. The Bible is our Companion – for Everyday and Eternal Life. Invite your friends to be a part of this very practical series.
KNOW YOUR BIBLE
The book of John contains no parables.
COWBOY WISDOM
Horses (really) like classical music.
TRIVIAL PURSUITS
Women blink nearly twice as many times as men do per day.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
Be a part of our Children’s Hour! Our children have certain needs and attention spans, and we’re moving to address that need. If you’re interested in helping in this most important ministry, just see me or Tina Butterfield or Jennifer Winslett on Sunday. And bring your children on Sunday. A Sign-Up Sheet is available!
OUR DAILY BREAD
Ninety percent (90%) of all Christians have never read the Bible through. Amazing!
We’re read the Bible through as a Church Family…chronologically, that is, as it occurs. The Bible does not come to us historically year by year, but moves about – History, Wisdom & Poetry, Prophecy, Gospels, Letters, Revelation. We’ll be reading about three chapters a day and we’ll see the presentation of God’s love to us throughout history…
Monday, September 26: Daniel 10-12; Tuesday, September 27: Ezra 1-3; Wednesday, September 28: Ezra 4-6; Psalm 137; Thursday, September 29: Haggai 1-2; Friday, September 30: Zechariah 1-7; Saturday, October 1: Zechariah 8-14; Sunday, October 2: Esther 1-5.
CROSS CHURCH MISSIONS OPPORTUNITIES
Little Things Can Mean a Lot
Pill Bottles
In developing third-world nations, there aren’t enough pill bottles to go around. It’s often that tissue paper is used to wrap up medicine (pills & tablets) to send home with patients.
Wonder what to do with your empty pill bottles when they’re empty? Peel off the personal information label and bring them with you to Church. We’ll gather them up and send along to Matthew 25:Ministries for distribution.
That’s all you have to do to make a big difference in someone’s life. Thanks!
Hotel Sundries
Gather up those hotel soaps and shampoos and bring them to Church with you. These small contributions make a big difference in the life of a family with immediate personal needs through our local homeless shelters.
Soda Can Tabs
Soda can tabs make a difference in a child’s life at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis. We all know someone whose life has been altered at St. Jude’s. Bring those tabs along with you each week for recycling!
PRAYER REQUESTS
Let’s talk about prayer requests…If you have any prayer requests you’d like to share with our group – and I know not all prayer requests ought to be made public – send them along to me, along with their relation to you (Example: Don Porter, Cousin to Steve Fowler). I’ll post them here and we can know where our hearts are coming from on a regular basis.

THE LAST WORD
“Basically, there are only two paths you can walk: Faith or Fear.
It’s impossible to simultaneously trust God and not trust God.”
