Introduction:
As you may know, the federal Child Abuse Prevention & Treatment Act (CAPTA) was reauthorized in December of 2010. A new provision in this reauthorization now requires states to annually report demographic data on all state Child Protective Services workers [42 USC Sec. 5106a].
We currently have in place a method to obtain quick demographic data on our staff, with the exclusion of education level and, more specifically, the area of education. We are working closely with human resources on a way to extract this data from personnel files, but for the upcoming annual report we are relying on field social workers and supervisors to complete this very brief survey.
