Introducing….

We are thrilled to announce the very first Team selection day of our new gym sports club “ZodiaxAllstars” very first cheerleading teams!

All-star cheerleading is one of the fastest growing team based sports in Australia. It is a fast paced, dynamic sport that encompasses stunt, tumbling, tosses and dance & requires dedication and a strong work ethic from the male and female athletes that participate. It isasphysically demanding as any othermainstream sport that is both rewarding and teaches life skills.

ZodiaxAllstars strive to promote teamwork through a positive and healthy environment that caters for all skill levels making each athlete the best they can be through technique, conditioning, fun and dedication and making these qualities universal through the community culture of the program.

Our program aims to be different from cheerleading already existing in South Australia in that it will draw from other gymnastics sports alike and will use training that is offered in high performance level sports and with this will be able to accommodate each athlete from recreational through to high level competitive cheerleading.

Coming from a predominantly Elite Gymnastics background and being involved with Gymnastics South Australia for the past 15 years has led into the exploration of Cheerleading, amongst other gym sports. Through this exploration we have seen each sports success in specific areas and also their weaknesses. For this reason our aim is to combine the success of each of these to develop and cultivate athletes that are well rounded individuals in whatever gym sport they chose to pursue.

Information for your interest…

The modern cheerleader has to possess the strength of a football player, the stamina of a

track runner, the agility of a gymnast & the grace of a ballerina!

All-Star, competitiveCheerleading is what most peoplerecognize as "Bring it On /ESPN cheerleading". All-star cheerleading has different rules and regulations from league and school-affiliated cheerleading because the main objective is to compete against other squads.

The teams are broken down into six levels, one being the lowest and six being the highest. A team’s competitive level is determined by the age and ability of the team members. Teams are further broken down into divisions based on the gender and number of athletes on the team.

The goal of competitive cheerleading is to get the highest score possible from a group of judges. Teams compete against other teams in their own division, and the team with the highest score wins first place.

The scoring and rules are broken down into seven main categories:

  • General
  • Standing
  • Running
  • Stunts
  • Pyramids
  • Dismounts
  • Tosses

Each level has set guidelines for the above categories, which are used by judges to determine their scores. Performing prohibited skills or failing to execute a skill properly can result in point deductions.

There are also general safety guidelines and routine requirements that each team, regardless of level, must adhere to. Routines must not exceed 2.5 minutes, and they must be performed on padded flooring.
