Dear colleague,

We are putting together the preparation arrangements for the School Workforce Census.

As you will know from the June 2016 Schools' Bulletin and my subsequent email dated 18th July 2016, there were 3 options for preparing the return. These are illustrated in this diagram.

If you need our team to prepare SWC data on your school's behalf (option 3), we need to know asap. The deadline for informing us of your choice was the end of the summer term.

So far, 5 schools have requested that we complete the data for them.

Can you let us know which option you will be taking using , particularly if you wish EIS to prepare the census on your school's behalf (and haven't already informed us).

We would be grateful if you could inform our team of your preference via email by Friday 16th September 2016.

Considering the time scales involved, if we do not hear from you by this date, we will assume that you are collating your data in your school's system.

As promised in the bulletin article, here is an indication of pricing:

Total Cost £3,848

Current cost with 5 schools: £769.60 per school.

Estimated cost if 10 schools purchase support: £384.80 per school.

For every additional school, there will be an appropriate reduction in cost.

I have to reiterate that our recommendation is that you complete the return within your school's MIS for a more robust and resilient long term method for managing this census. However, if you need us to prepare a return for your school this year, you must have purchased PCC's Payroll (EBS) Services. We cannot do this for schools that obtain their payroll support elsewhere.

Once, the data have been prepared for a school, it is the school's responsibility to check every single data item in COLLECT and add in any missing data items, as per previous years.

For support to complete data entry in your MIS, please contact your MIS provider.

For training for the DfE's COLLECT website, with particular reference to data prepared by our team, there will be training provided in October. Further information about these sessions is to follow.

More information and guidance will follow when it is available.

If you have any questions at this stage, please contact me.

Regards,

André
