We are pleased to provide the following scholarships:

  • $500* scholarship may be awarded to a graduating MHS baseball and/or softball player(s) who will be playing softball/baseball in college. Payment of the scholarship will be a one time payment and made directly to the student provided they have met the following scholarship requirements for their first year of college. The student must present their fall and spring semester grades and proof of participation on a college softball/or baseball team (example- letter from college coach). The student must also remain in good standing at the college/university with a minimum of 2.75 GPA. If, after completion of the first year of college, the necessary requirements are not met the scholarship will be forfeited.

* The number of $500 scholarships awarded will be determined in the spring by the Marion Unit #2 Baseball & Softball Parents Association board. Each scholarship recipient may use the funds for tuition, room and board, or books at any accredited College, University orCommunity College.

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

ELIGIBILTY REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be a graduating senior from MHS with an accumulated GPA of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  2. Applicant must plan to enter college as a full time student in the summer or fall following graduation.
  3. Recipient must have been on the varsity team for at least two years.
  4. Must show intent to play baseball/softball in college.
  5. Financial need is not a requirement but will be considered.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Complete and include the cover page attached.
  2. Provide proof of acceptance by an institution of higher education (letter of acceptance or official form from the institution).
  3. Typed essay (written on separate piece of paper).
  4. Copy of high school transcript
  5. A typed resume of BOTH school related and non-school related activities engaged in by the applicant during high school.
  6. Two letters of recommendation; one from a teacher and one from a person of your choice.
  7. Completed applications should be paper clipped and submitted in a manila envelope.
