Set against the backdrop of the vibrant city ofVictoria, the 2017 Livable Cities Forum will explore how to work together to build low carbon, resilient communities amidst the changing climate. The program is now available ( and will cover a variety of topics in climate change adaptation and mitigation, with particular emphasis on how to maximize the co-benefits between the approaches
Exploration will continue beyond the Forum walls through mobile workshops in Victoriaand the surrounding area. Participants will be able to see first-hand best practices, ask questions, and really get a sense of what low carbon resilience means in Victoria.

We are looking for volunteers to assist us in the following areas:

-Event set-up: You will assist conference staff with administrative tasks and logistical support relating to event set-up on the Sunday before Day 1 of the Forum. Tasks may include: organization of name badges, preparation of delegate kits, etc.

-Session Support: You will assist the set-up and delivery of break-out sessions by performing tasks such as re-setting the tables and chairs between sessions, cueing up powerpoints, helping speakers with logistical needs, and setting up tent-cards for panelists.

-Registration Help: You will assist conference staff at the Registration Desk as delegates check-in at the Westin, assuring that they sign in and receive badges, programs, etc.

-Greeters: You will help delegates navigate the venue throughout the duration of the conference, directing people to the appropriate rooms for plenaries, breakout sessions, lunch and networking breaks, etc.

-Study Tour Assistants: You will assist conference staff during study tours, assuring that delegates remain with the group and helping with any logistical issues that may arise.

-Photographer: You will be responsible for taking pictures throughout the conference – at plenaries, sessions, breaks, dinners, etc. We are looking for a volunteer with previous experience in this area, preferably with access to their own high quality camera.

-Guide/info booth/coat check: You will be stationed at the registration deskin order to answer questions from delegates. In the mornings/evenings you may be asked to assist with the coat check service. Guides would preferably be local volunteers, as you will be stationed in the registration area to help provide directions to delegates looking to attend any of our off-site events.

Volunteers will be required to assist with set-up in the mornings and take-down in the evenings, depending on your shift.Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation to and from The Westin Nova Scotian and accommodation (if necessary).

We want you to make the most of your experience. You’ll get out of it what you put in, so engage in sessions and with delegates when you can, and try to learn something new!As a volunteer, you will receive one complimentary meal per shift worked, and when not on dutyyou may attend sessions the day of your shift.
