Created in 1979, Action contre la Faim (ACF) is a non-governmental organization that fights against hunger. Its charter of humanitarian principals- independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, transparency - has been part of its identity for 35 years. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of under-nutrition, particularly during and after emergency situations linked to conflicts or natural disasters. Action contre la Faim focuses its actions on 4 main areas of expertise: nutrition, health and healthcare practices - food security and livelihoods – water, sanitation and hygiene – advocacy. In 2013, Action contre la Faim provided aid to 8.5 million people in more than 45 countries worldwide.

We are looking for:A NUTRITION AND HEALTH COORDINATOR

Context:In Liberia, based in Monrovia, Montserrado County with frequent trips to Bomi/GCM Counties

Length of contract:12 months (with possible extension), starting from the 1st of July 2015

The position: Under the supervision of the Country Director, you will be responsible to define the strategies and coordinate activities of Action Contre la Faim in the fields of Nutrition and Health.

More precisely, you will be in charge to:

  • Design, develop and evaluate actions in the field of nutrition and health as well as the advocacy actions in the field of intervention

-Collect and ensure the quality control, follow up and evaluate data

-Analyse the nutritional situation

-Encouragethe team to identify new programmes

-Develop technical strategy and advocacy actions in nutrition and health specific to the mission

  • Monitor and coordinate programmes in the fields of nutrition and health

-Decide to launch nutritional surveys

-Develop of integrated (inter-disciplinary) approach programmes

-Collect and analyse data, including the decisions making on this basis

-Provide activity report of quality In the given timeline

-Monitor all the consolidated programme budgets relating to nutrition and health allocated to the country

  • Manage the Nutrition and Health team in capital if any and be the Technical/Support Manager of the Nutrition and Health Program Managers
  • Develop and launch programmes in collaboration with governmental and local agencies

-Ensure the dissemination of the ACF nutrition and health strategy at country level to partners and funding bodies in his field of expertise

-Develop and maintain a network of harmonious and productive relationships with national representatives and programme partners

-Establish MoU to define the terms of various partnership

  • Represent Action Contre la Faim and its positioning in the field of nutrition and health

-Make national and international authorities fully aware of the ACF positions and protocols

  • Advise and support in any emergency medical issues, including evacuation and provide general support in the administration of heath related issues for national and expatriate staff.

The applicant:You hold a Master degree in Nutrition, Public Health or equivalent and have a minimum of two years field experience in coordination positions, with an NGO,on preventing malnutrition programmes.

Experiences of working in partnerships and advocate for improvements in the Nutrition Sector at the National level, as well as knowledge of systems strengthening, are required.

A proven experience leading on sourcing of new funding and developing coherent and contextualized Nutrition Strategies will be compulsory.

Excellent diplomacy, organisational, communication and representation skills are required.

Excellent team management experience compulsory: You have been recognized as a trainer and a coach for national members of your team.

A first experience in Liberia or West Africa would be an advantage

Fluency in English (oral and written) is compulsory.

Status:

Gross monthly salary ranging from €1805 to €2305 depending on relevant experience

Food and hygiene expenses, per diem, transportation costs, collective or individual accommodation, medical insurance

25 days of annual paid leaves and 20 days of rest and recuperation (R&R) per year

Pre departure training, at the HQ in Paris (1 to 2 weeks)
