As we approach Thanksgiving this year, it’s easy to give thanks for the many blessings the Lord has given us. I personally give thanks for Fr. Joe and the way he has helped to not only form our Movement, but to form me and so many of us in the Cursillo Way. Dear God, I will miss him, his smile, and his “finally’s”. But I am grateful he went doing what he loved to do! Is there a doubt about where he is, and the many blessings he will bestow on our Movement? We will remember, Fr. Joe.

We are especially thankful for:

Bill and JoAnne McElroy asthey step leave the Secretariat at the end of December. They did an outstanding job! We give thanks that Kerry and Joe O’Donnell have said “Yes,” and willcarry on the work of coordinating the 3 Days. Both have served as Team Coordinators, and have been very active in the Movement. Thank you all!!

As I prepare to end my term, Dick Kohl said “Yes,” he will become our new Lay Director in January. Dick served on the Secretariat twice before, and is an active group member, Leaders’ School participant; he is regularly seen at Ultreyas and Closings. He brings his deep faith as well as his history with the Movement over the past 20+ years. We are so thankful, Dick, for your willingness to give of yourself!

And, finally, we welcome Pat Kenny as the Team Coordinator for the Men’s 111th Weekend, scheduled from March 9-12th, at St. Charles Borromeo. Pat is from Our Lady of Peace in Darien. He made his Weekend 16 years ago. This will be his second time as TC. He will begin assembling his Team within the next month. Contact Pat if you are grouping and feel a Call to serve as a Cursillo Leader on that Weekend. Thank you, Pat!

Prayer/Palanca Requests

On Monday, the 28th of November, the Secretariat meets again at St. Phillip’s Church in Addison at 7:00 PM. We will be discussing Cursillo Leader preparation and making plans for the upcoming year. We will also pray and discern over two Secretariat positions as well as future Team Coordinators. I hesitate to wear out our welcome, but your prayers last month, I believe, were instrumental in our assembling the above roster of leaders. Will you do Palanca for us again? Would you be willing to say a decade of the Rosary for us on or around the 28th?

In addition to prayer and palanca, we need your input! Reply back to me, or write or call any Secretariat member (see for addresses), with your ideas on Leader preparation, 2006 activities,or with nominations for the above positions!! Each of the 12 of us tries very hard to represent and reflect your feelings and needs as we see them, but yourdirect input is not just welcome, but needed! And, please, ask yourself, “Is the Lord tapping me on the shoulder to serve Him in a special way?”

Let me close by wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving. As Cursillistas we are determined to bring about the Kingdom in all our environments – one by one. Only God knows what you have done to bring that about!! For that, we as a Movement are truly grateful.

Peace, Pat Millet
