Halls Promotions Team

Initially we will be recruiting students living in the following residents;

Claude Gibb, Manor Bank, Trinity Square, Liberty Quay, and New Bridge St

The ideal candidates will be excellent at interacting with others and able to act as an ambassador for the Students’ Union within their Halls of Residence.

You will be self-motivated and have the ability to take the lead during Freshers’ week to help us create a brilliant welcome for students arriving at Northumbria.

Working hours will be variable and may include some evening & weekends therefore a flexible approach is essential.

You will be required to work a maximum of 12 hours per week to be flexible around your studies. The hourly rate is £6.50

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title: Halls Promotions Assistant

Department: Marketing

Responsible to: Halls Engagement Coordinator

Job Purpose To improve overall engagement between the Students’ Union and students living in halls. To promote the Students’ Union and the events and services we run to students living in Halls. To improve connections between the Students’ Union and students in Halls. To distribute Students’ Union literature to students within halls. To be the ‘voice’ of students living in halls to feedback any issues, or comments for the Students’ Union to act on.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

1.  To conduct forward facing direct communication with students in halls promoting all Students’ Union events and initiatives

2.  To lead on the Freshers’ Week halls engagement plan and to work alongside the Welcome Team to promote the Freshers’ Week entertainment and daytime activities programme.

3.  To host Welcome Talks in halls during Freshers’ Week

4.  To lead on selling Freshers passes in halls during Freshers’ Week

5.  To be the ‘voice’ of students in halls feeding back into the Union any issues or comments

6.  To come up with new ideas to increase engagement with students in halls

7.  To distribute marketing literature to halls and make sure it is kept up to date and well organised

8.  To help push out the Students’ Union events programme in halls and all commercial services

9.  To promote student activities and volunteering opportunities in halls and all membership services

10.  To help conduct market research or focal surveys amongst students in halls as and when necessary

11.  To help plan and run halls specific events

12.  To maintain a sense of integrity and confidentiality in the case of dealing with any sensitive or confidential issues or information.

13.  To attend training sessions and staff meetings as required

14.  To obtain a sense of ownership of the role and put forward any ideas and suggestions to improve halls engagement.

15.  To develop an excellent relationship with the halls manager of your designated hall.

16.  To be flexible in terms of working hours

17.  To be available for weekend work as and when required

18.  To adhere to staff uniform requirements

19.  To help push out any welfare issues to fellow students

20.  To help implement a halls feedback scheme and feedback results to students

21.  To attend meetings with the Halls Engagement Coordinator and the rest of the Halls Promo Team and marketing team.
