The Electrical Engineer uses their superior communication skills to assist the sites in becoming more efficient operationally by troubleshooting a variety of complex technical issues. The main function is managing projects that require in-depth programming expertise and knowledge in power distribution.

This is a high-visibility position and as a key member of the Manufacturing Services team, this role has the opportunity to travel to all Plastipak sites, both domestically and internationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Any of the following skills are required for consideration for this role:

  • At least 2 years work experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Programming of Allen Bradley (RSLogix 5, 500 and/or 5000) and Siemens (Step 5 & 7) PLCs OR experience with Project Management (Including development and tracking of project budgets and timelines; Must be able to keep and retain project documentation, including revision controls)
  • Experience with Circuit Breakers, Fuses,Switchgears, Distribution Panels, Transformers, & Wiring
  • Design and wiring of equipment and electrical panels
  • Design and Evaluation of Distribution and Lighting Systems, including 600V and higher systems
  • AutoCAD (Layouts, Schematics and SingleLine Diagrams)
  • Must be able to interface with suppliers and contractors in person and through verbal & written correspondence effectively
  • Must be able to install, troubleshoot, and debug Production Equipment
  • Ability to write specifications for Electrical and other contractor bids, and design & performance specifications for purchased assets

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with Injection Molding Machinery and/or Blow Molding Machinery, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Generators a Plus
  • Experience with Servo Systems
  • Understanding of Electrical Safety, including Arc Flash
  • Understanding of Communication Systems & Communication Protocols, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, Modbus, Profibus, and Devicenet
  • Programming of Interface Systems, including RSView, Panel Builder, Iconics, Intellution, & Wonderware
  • Programming, Design and Troubleshooting of Servo Systems
  • Extensive travel required
