HANDS-ON HERITAGE HOUSE-- Come join fun historical hands-on activities and exhibits inside the California bungalow style Stevens-Haustgen House. Look through a stereoscope, try your hand at old fashioned games, investigate the tools of kitchen and laundry duties over 100 years ago and more. This participatory exhibit space is also the headquarters of our scheduled school tours and Heritage Saturday activities. KIDS PLAY FREE AT PHOENIX 9-HOLE COURSES THIS SUMMER-- Junior golfers ages 17 and under will play for FREE -- every day, all day -- at any of the three city of Phoenix nine-hole courses this summer, when accompanied by a paid adult. The program is designed to encourage families to enjoy golf together and to promote junior golf in Phoenix. The special is good for one youth per adult. If only one adult is present, additional kids’ rounds are only $5 each. Junior participants will also receive a free PING hat while supplies last! This program is an extension of the Phoenix Youth Golf Program that offers affordable golf lessons year-round to young golfers between the ages of 5 and 17 and the $30 Junior Play Pass good for 30 days at all Phoenix golf courses on a space available basis. SILENT SUNDAYS TO NORTH MOUNTAIN PARK-- Cyclists, skateboarders, wheelchair users and stroller-riding tots will soon get to call the roads of North Mountain Park their own one day each month when the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department expands it’s popular Silent Sunday event to the area. North Mountain Park, 10600 N. 7th Street, will host Silent Sundays from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., normally on the 2nd Sunday of each month (except holidays). Vehicles will park in the lot at the Havasupai Ramada reserving the park’s roadways for non-motorized use. Trailhead access sites outside of the park will remain open to vehicles. (602) 495-5506.

FAMILY HORSE CAMP— Families will learn about horses, caring for horses and riding. This program is offered in partnership with the Hunkapi Horse Program. This family camping trip to Camp Colley is the parks department’s outdoor adventure camp on the Mogollon Rim. Located 150 miles northeast of Phoenix, between Payson and Winslow off Highway 87. Elevation: 6,700 feet. Cost: $75 per adult and $25 for children 17 and under. All youth must be accompanied by an adult. The cost includes Friday dinner, three meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. No previous experience is needed and all program materials, camping equipment and meals are

provided. Bring your own equipment if you have it and we will help you set it up. Families will sleep in platform tents or will be provided family-size tents. Parks and Recreation Department will lead guided outdoor activities. Campers must transport themselves to the Camp and all activities. Staff will follow up with trip orientation details by e-mail. SILENT SUNDAYS AT SOUTH MOUNTAIN: On Silent Sundays (the 4th Sunday of each month), bicyclists, tots in strollers, in-line skaters and wheelchair users get to call the Park's roadways their own. Starting at 5 a.m. the park's roadways past the Central Avenue gate will be reserved for non-motorized use. South Mountain Park is located at 10919 S. Central Avenue. 602 495-5811.
