Attendance

Another excellent month for attendance again until Chicken Pox struck!! Oh well, some things we simply can’t control!!

Water Bottles, sun hats and sun cream

Thank you for ensuring that children have water bottles, sun hats and sun cream in school every day. In light of the recent very hot weather, we have been delighted to see all children adequately protected from the heat and the sun and it has allowed us to use the outdoor environment to its full potential.

Transition days

Miss Bull has been delighted with the number of new reception children for next year who have attended the first two transition afternoons. It is always lovely to meet new pupils and to start to get to know them before they join the school properly in September. We are looking forward to the next two transition afternoons on the 29th of June and the 7th of July. Rowan Class have had the opportunity to work with Mrs Peters, their new teacher for next year for the last two transition sessions and I know they have been very excited to meet her and again it makes the transition from Rowan Class to Aspen Class in September all the easier.

New Staff appointment

We have appointed an amazing teaching assistant for the Year 1 / 2 class next year. We had 28 applicants for the post and we shortlisted 4 very high calibre candidates. After great deliberations we appointed Mrs Kate Burnham who at present works in St Michael’s as a 1:1 teaching assistant. We feel very lucky to have been able to appoint such an able teaching assistant and I know that she and Mrs Peters will create a fantastic teaching team for next year in Aspen Class.

Job vacancies

We are now advertising for a cleaner to start in September. Please see our website for further details and an application form if you or any of your family/friends are interested.

A Second Classroom

A contractor has been appointed to refurbish and extend the Green Room which will become the Year 1 / 2 classroom next year from September. The building will be completely transformed with toilet and washing facilities and the building will be as new once finished. All the furniture has also been ordered and will look similar to the lovely wooden furniture in Rowan class.

Sports Day

Spot the ‘not deliberate’ mistake on the letter that was sent home with the dates for Sports Day - ‘June’ should obviously have read ‘July’. Thank you to those of you who alerted me to my error!

Uniform Orders

Please let Mrs Smart have your orders for school uniform for next year by the end of this week (by Friday the 7th of July) so that we can be sure that you have your new uniform ready before the end of term.
