WATBike - Guided leisure bike rides for June 2017

Note: Wednesday nights now 1730 start

Sun 4th June / Cobalt / 0900 / Another Sunday samosa ride via Brighton Grove, across the Tyne and a cuppa at the Staith’s café in Dunston, then back over the Tyne and Cobalt, a jolly ride out about 35 miles.
Wed 7th June / Cobalt / 1730 / Heading out to Newcastle West with a beer at the Wylam Brewery on the Town Moor then back to Cobalt.
Sat 10th June / Cobalt / 2200 / Overnight ride, starting at 10pm. Great annual ride in the dark, with exact route still being worked on, but will finish at McDonalds at about 4am after around 50 miles!
Sun 11th June / No ride today
Wed 14th June / Cobalt / 1730 / Nice easy evening ride to the Diamond pub at Ponteland, returning via the Reivers route. 20 miles.
Sun 18th
June / All our guides are committed to a couple of big overnight rides over the weekend so no ride on today!
Wed 21st June / Hastings Arms,Seaton Delaval / 1730
SW / Note a new venue, starting and finishing in Delaval we will be exploring tracksand trails of SouthEastNorthumberland.
Sat 24th June / Cobalt / 2 day ride, Cumbria. Fully booked
Sun 25th June / Blyth / 0900 / Heading up via the new Morpeth bypass, Pigdon, cuppa at Kirkley cycles, and back via Stannington
Wed 28th June / Cobalt / 1730 / Another ride taking in Newcastle City centre with a visit to the new micro pub, the Town Mouse!
Sun 2nd July / Cobalt / 0900 / Big bus Sunday. Heading out to Elsdon cycle café, via Tranwell, Bolam, Scots Gap, then passing the Winters Gibbet, followed by a whizz down to café after 40+ miles, great cuppa at Elsdon then bus back around 2pm.

Meeting points:

  1. Blyth will be from the large car park by Coastline Chippy restaurant at South Beach.
  2. North Tyneside, Cobalt, will be Car Park opposite Village Hotel.
  1. No children under the age of 12
  2. Only “standard” bikes, no recumbent bikes, tandems or 3 wheelers on these rides. We may be able to do rides with these types of bike by request, just call us.
  3. Cost is £10 per head when bus is required, and only £5 if a circular ride-includes pick up from the designated point, transport by minibus from there or return, this includes a place on the trailer for your bike. Payment can be made on the day of the ride.
  4. A minimum of 8 riders are required to make each ride viable, if less than 8 we maintain the right to cancel and you will be offered a place on another ride.
  5. If you want any particular type/length of ride, or maybe wish to take in a certain event or location, then let us know and we can design something to suit you.
  6. These are leisure rides to be enjoyed; we want you to be able to appreciate some of the fabulous parts of the North East that you probably wouldn’t see from a car window. Fun, fresh air and gentle exercise! Each ride will have experienced guides to help you along, and in all cases there will be shortcuts should anyone find they are really struggling.
  7. We suggest bringing a water bottle, and some snacks to keep your energy levels up, and we always try and end where we can get drinks/snacks. Wearing of cycle helmets is advisory.
  8. All cyclists ride at their own risk, the Highway Code should be adhered to at all times.You are responsible for your own safety and should be aware at all times of other users of the roads and tracks.
