Jason Barlow strikes out in the Preston 10 Mile race on Sunday

Rob Danson finished 122nd in the Leeds Abbey Dash on Sunday in blustery conditions, clocking 32:33 for the undulating out and back course on the Kirkgate Road. James Mulvany was 267th with 35:05, placing 30th M35 with a chip time of 34:51 (282nd). David Taylor was 445th in 37:15 but 442nd with his chip time of 36:52. Catherine Carrdus finished 5th W40 and 770th overall in 40:24, 39:56 chip time. Mark Billington came in 33rd M50 and 931st in 41:45 (40:50 chip time). John Bertenshaw placed 15th M55 in 42:56(1089th) with 42:28 for his chip time. The winner ran 29:44 and only 5 runners beat 30 minutes in the conditions.

Despite stormy and windy conditions 13 runners broke the hour for the two lap Preston 10 Mile road race on Sunday from Hutton around Longton. Race winner as Dave Rigby of Preston harriers in 55:53 and team-mate Helen Clitheroe was first woman in 58:18. The first finisher for Wesham was Steve Waterhouse in 13th place with 59:51, an excellent run securing 4th M45. Jason Barlow finished 31st with a resurgence of form, clocking 63:15 as 7th M45. Garry Barnett was 6 places behind in 37th with 64:00, a good run to set 8th M45. Taking a battering from the wind Paul Gregory was 73rd in 66:40, and John Collier won the M60 title in a time of 67:32 in 83rd place overall. Carmel Sullivan was Wesham’s first woman finisher, 2nd W50, 16thwoman and 146 overall with 1:13:21. Nicola Unsworth was 3rd W45 and 17thwoman in 1:14:05 and 154th place overall, . Debbie Myerscough was 7th W50 and 266th in 1:24:52. George Kennedy was 153rd in 1:14:04 just one second ahead of Nicola; Graham Cunliffe was 172nd in 1:16:19 with Brian Jones 193rd in 1:18:22. Mick Edge is missing from the results; Chris Whitlock commenced his comeback trail with 1:18:27 for 19th place; and Alan Taylor was 227th with 1:21:44.

Rob Danson finished 6th in the most recent Podium 5k at Nelson on November 7th, posting a swift 15:26 in a high quality race. The winning time was 14:43 and two runners broke 15 minutes.

Peter Cruse ran the historic Brampton to Carlisle now a Sunday race and he finished 105th and 9th M50 in 1:06:35, doubtless most of the way into a headwind. Simon Eatonwas 145th and 33rd M40 in 1:09:15. Despite the conditions the wining time was 52:31 and 31 runners ran inside the hour. The winning woman ran 1:01:19.

The results are now out for the Lakeland Trails events last week. Steven Gore ran 1:11:44 to finish 11th in the 15km Helvellyn Challenge on a panoramic circuit in the foothills of the great mountain.

David Taylor ran the Preston parkrun on Saturday morning, running 18:40 for an age graded performance of 69.20%. Paul Carter ran 30:04 for M45 47.51%. Steve Gore ran the Haigh Woodland parkrun in 34:28 for 38.06%, an easy pacing run.
